Default Welcome to "Ask Tadge"

Corvetteforum is pleased to announce a collaboration with Tadge Juechter, Corvette's Vehicle Line Executive, who has agreed to answer your questions in the new “Ask Tadge” section -- a Corvette Forum exclusive.

How it Will Work?
Tadge has agreed to answer one question per week. The facilitator for the project will be long-time Forum participant Jason Van Patten (jvp). We’ll start the project off with questions from Jason, each in a separate thread so you can discuss the questions, if you like. Those posts can serve to indicate your interest in the topics. The plan also is to start a poll toward the end of each week to help select the question that will be submitted to Tadge for his response. The polls will close each Sunday afternoon and the question you select will be emailed to Tadge. Once he replies, the response will be posted for further discussion.

Who is This Tadge Guy Anyway?
Tadge Juechter has worked for General Motors since 1977. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester in 1979, and also earned an MBA from Stanford University School of Business in 1986. His work on Corvettes began under Dave Hill on the fifth generation and he's been with the program since.

What Should I Ask?
No matter the topic, please ask your question in a civil manner and try to make the questions succinct. Although Tadge’s current focus naturally is the C7, he has agreed to take your questions involving other generations of Corvettes, too.

Can I See Examples of questions?
Jason will post a selection of questions to get the project started and will submit your favorite to Tadge for response while you are generating the questions that will lead to the next question of the week.

Meanwhile, if you have not already seen it, check out the interview Corvetteforum’s Marcus Amik did with Tadge recently:

Hey gang -

Thanks to savewave (Jim) for running the internal gauntlet at Internet Brands to set this section up and get it going. Folks will inevitably be curious as to how this all came about and I hope to explain it with this small post. I've read numerous threads and posts here on Corvette Forum regarding getting a "Q&A" with Tadge. I reached out to my Corvette Engineering team contact, and asked them to pose the question to Tadge. Fortunately for us, he was actually considering something very similar. Lots of emails back and forth between Tadge, Jim, and myself, and we have our new section here.

Tadge is excited to do this as it'll be another way to reach customers and act as an educational source for he and the rest of the engineering team. So do please ask the good questions, and Tadge will do his best to answer them!

Enjoy!

What a great initiative by you, Jim, and of course Tadge!

I always love to watch, hear and read comments and presentations by Tadge via social media like Youtube, and read articles and interviews about/with him via automotive websites. He is very knowledgeable, always to the point, and at times Tadge can be very witty too (with subtlety).
Well, enough reason for me to subscribe!

My first question is: can I ask (a) question(s) that is/are not part of the poll?
Second question: is the poll completely revised each week, or is it just "the question of the week that has been answered" that will be replaced by a new one?

Thanks all the three of you for this initiative guys!

You can certainly ask any question you like as a new thread. If there's already a poll going, then your question will have to wait for the following week, assuming it's popular enough to put into the poll.

I intend to create a new poll (new post) each Friday afternoon with 5 of that week's popular questions. Popularity will be determined by reply counts for each thread.

So if you come into the forum with the intent of asking Tadge "X", it makes more sense to first look to see if someone else has asked it. If they have, reply to that post with a, "Yeah, I'm interested in this, too" or whatever.

How do you know that if I create a new thread that that thread is related to the "Corvette chief engineer answers your questions" sticky?

Ronald, I think this will be an interesting and enlightening project for all involved. If someone is going to get credit, let it be Jason (jvp) since he's the facilitator and is going to be making it happen.

As Jason said, the pump-priming five questions are in the poll for the first week's response by Tadge. Questions posted subsequent to those will be the ones considered for the poll for the second week.

So, what if someone asks a great question in week two that doesn't rise to No. 1 in the poll for week two? We don't know because we haven't gotten there yet. My notion is that a good question is a good question no matter when it might have been posted and, if posting to the thread with that question indicates continuing interest, it should be considered for a subsequent week.

We'll work through those details as we proceed.

I have asked my first question in this thread. Let's hope that works.

Default How This Will Work - Clarification

Hey fellow CF'ers -

It seems as though there may be a bit of confusion on how Tadge will read the questions and answer them. He's not a participant here on the forum, as much as we'd all love that. His time is precious and he can't spend hours on end reading through forum posts. So, once a question wins the poll, I'm going to email the text of the question to him unedited. When he replies to my email, I'll create a new thread, which will be stickied, that has both the original question (and a link to that thread) as well as Tadge's answer. I'll also post a reply in the original thread with a link back to the answer.

Given all of that, it behooves the person asking the question to make sure their query is short, sweet, and to the point. Nothing is off limits, as savewave has already said. But we want to avoid sending Tadge a novella in order for him to answer. Savewave is probably going to bop me on the head for writing the next bit, but: imagine you've just met Tadge at a Corvette show and you've shaken his hand. You have 3 minutes to bend his ear and get an answer. Ask away...

Any sticky thread that has the word [ANSWERED] is one of his answers.

When we will get Tadge answers to the voted questions?
