Ask Tadge: Breaking in your new C7 Z06
Hello Tadge,
I had a few questions about breaking in the new vehicle.
1) what type of "breaking in" is done at the factory, if any?
2) if the car is "broke in" at the factory, why does the owners manual suggest taking it easy for the first 1500 miles?
3) if the car is driven pretty hard on a track with less than 500 miles on it, would you expect to see compromised vehicle reliability or performance over its lifespan?

Jordan Lee answered this question for me yesterday.
1. No
2. -
3. Jordan recommended easy driver under 4000RPM for the first 500 miles and no track days until after 1500 miles. This is due to the polimer -coated bearings on the LT engines as well as later LS engines. They like to have more break in period. Also if a little piece of metal gets into the bearing it's game over, where as older bearings with lead tend to absorb small debris.
