[ASKED] Pre-Record and Quick Record Button for PDR
While the PDR is cool for the track, it would be nice if it had a street mode as well. It could be set to record constantly, and add a recording 'hotkey' to the infotainment home screen. If anything noteworthy happens on the streets, pushing the record button would instantly enter record mode, and with a configurable pre-record (ex: 30-60 seconds) would capture what happened prior to the button push.
Can this feature we added via software update? It seems very simple and straightforward to provide owners.
With the advancement of on board cameras and recording. It would be extremely nice to have a quick record. Although I think the pre record would be great, it might not be available with the software thats available.

If the original software were written correctly, this should be a simple change. On the other hand, it is such a common sense feature that it is discouraging that it isn't already included. It appears to be another case of let's give the customer something that looks cool without spending a lot of time or money researching what features would be needed and/or desirable. The C6 nav was another example of this thinking.

The trick with pre-record is you just tell it to record constantly, but store it in a loop and only save the data if you hit the button. I would think it should be doable with an update.
I would like it to have an option to over write older files. That way I don't have to remove the card and delete the vids every so often.
With a pre-record button it would only save what you tagged, so it wouldn't fill up. Having a xx day loop like a security cam would be one option as well, but would probably only make sense if the cam recorded while parked to catch any incidents while you were away. I wonder how much power that would use and if it's feasible.

Bumping this because it's one of the top things I wish the PDR could do!
The other thing I would like to see is an increase in the max speed where you can access the front cameras, I hate when I'm rolling up to my garage and can't access them...

Yea I'm surprised this hasn't gotten much attention from others... For those of us that daily drive it's a very useful feature for day to day use. Also should be easy for GM to implement via software update.
