Signature makes them. Dirty motorsports is the vendor.

keep us posted. I'm gonna talk to my local guy at my tire store and show him the wheel and tire warranty I bought through Criswell Chevy when I bought the car. After reading a few comments here I want to make sure if I need a new wheel(s) it will be honored.

I bought my wheels and tire insurance through Criswell. Bit of a slow process, but got everything paid

We'll see how my local Chevy dealer handles it, if it ever comes to that. I have faith in the outside company handling the claim as Criswell always did right by me.

Default Cracked Wheels

My name is Manny I have had three cracked wheels since owning my 2015 ZO6.

I have been in contact with GM and also Michelin and they have both started case numbers with my issue,,,

One of my wheels is in a dealership right now. I have recieved calls both from GM and Michelin that they are going to help me that was last thursday so I am being patient at this point but my car is up on jacks in my garage for the last week.

I had two C6 GRANDSPORTs 2010 and 2012 with a combination of 60000 miles between the two cars AND NEVER HAD WHEEL ISSUES with wheels or tires

Michilen Vice President of Marketing explained to me they engineer the tires to GM specs,,,GM customer care tells me the tires are the cause ot the wheels cracking or bending.

Whom should I believe,,,and why should I own a Corvette if this is very common

thanks for your report,,,but it doesn't solve anyone's issues on this. I pray no one gets hurt or killed

My '17 GSCE started vibrating badly when driving. I dropped it off at the dealer yesterday, let's see what they say. Oh, and it has 2,200 miles on it........

The verdict is in, they tell me that 3 of the wheels are BENT?!? I haven't even hit as much as a pothole and 3 of the 4 wheels are bent?!?! WTF?!?!

The LR wheel and both Right (Front and Rear) are bent according to the dealer. They said that one of the right ones, I'm so pissed I don't even remember which one they told me, was so bent that you didn't have to spin it to see it. And OF COURSE they are not covered under warranty.

FML right now.

I just had 4 new tires put on my '16 Z06 with 16,000 miles. They called me back from the waiting room to show me all 4 wheels are slightly bent. WTF? I had C5 and C6 with combined 100K miles and never bent a rim. Talked to GM engineers at Bloomington Gold in Indy this past weekend. Quality guy said they had 7 bent rims with management ZR1's over the winter. He blamed it on bad roads and pot holes, which seems to be the GM talking points as in the "Ask Tadge" response. GM engineer also said that bent aluminum rims should not be straightened, and that aluminum wheel will eventually crack if bent due to the extra stress put on the wheel. So, sounds like GM's answer is that we need to hire pilot cars to escort us on the roads and warn of any pot holes.

Chevy's slogan is "Find new roads". I guess they really meant it.

Hmm, for all the distracted drivers around thought it would be great if it were possible to have a NASCAR "spotter." Perhaps with all of the "detection" technology we can have ground pointing detection to identify and warn about pot holes!

Our BMW SUV does a great job of detecting center and road edge lines and vibrating the steering wheel when you are over them!

Why on earth do Z51 have forged wheels while the wider GS wheels do not?

Rotary Forging cold works the rim significantly and provides increased strength as does stamped forged wheel. Perhaps, depending on the design, not as much. It just proves you can make a poor design from any process!

I have looked at other wheels and for example my 2014 Z51 black wheels, albeit narrower, don't "look" like a more robust design than my Grand Sport Machined Faced Aluminum Wheels. Some other Grand Sport wheels don't "appear" to be as robust as a design - but looks can be deceiving. GM runs the tests and knows which is stronger than others! Heck a heavy cast aluminum wheel can be strong - just heavy!

GOOD VIDEO OF ROTORY FORGING- same process shown in a Corvette Bash video as used on C7 wheels:

the GS wheels aren't strong. And the wider they are, the more likely they are to bend (assuming equal strength).

Ok, I am going to have to replace the 3 rims, my question is; are there other wheels (forged, steel or whatever) out there that "look" identical to the factory rims? I don't want to pay out the rectum for 3 rims to just do it again in 2,000 more miles.

Although Tadge didn't see any "field data does not suggest a recent significant increase in the wheel damage", I suggest he re-examine the where he's getting his data from. Even Car & Driver had 4 bent wheels (1 of them cracked) during their long term review of a 2017 Grand Sport.

i just dont get how he can say this when they don't warrant them. It's not reported to him.

Just left Discount Tires. I have slow leaks in 3 of my tires. They showed me cracks in the the wheels that are not holding air. WTF? No warranty?

If people don't bother telling the dealer, and the dealer isn't reporting it up to GM, then he will never know.

Case in point, someone in this thread just posted that Discount Tire discovered cracks in the wheels. How is GM going to find out about that?
