Wheels
What I ended up getting.
Just get forged wheels and be done with it.
If you want OEM,

I personally wanted them to be a more flush and less tucked in. I also went 1/2" wider so I could run 305F and 355R if I wanted.

I don't have a C7 but if I were you guys I would pursue a class action lawsuit for GM not honoring warranties on their own design flaw causing these issues.

It's virtually impossible to prove in a class action. It might be literally impossible to certify the class.

It's kind of funny reading all of this, I remember when the 96 Grand Sport came with wheels that were the ones all the track guys wanted to run because they were stronger and lighter than whatever else was available. Perhaps GM should look back as to where they obtained those wheels and get a new contract with the maker.

Does anyone here have a sense of how many owners Grand Sports are effected by the bending/cracking wheel phenomenon? Is it less then say 5% or higher? Is it one of those situations that the number is fairly low but those people are the most vocal here and create the appearance the problem is bigger than it really is? Comments are welcome as I am getting a new GS soon and hope to find a way to mitigate the risk of this happening to my vehicle. TIA

GM quite probably has an estimate, can't see how any of us can. My guess is it's small, but a shear guess based on the comments from the vocal minority and little from the silent majority and that is forum members NOT everyone with a GS.
My 2017 Grand Sport is 18 months old and my Machined Faced Aluminum Wheels, made in Mexico from the European company Tadge outlined, are perfect. Now I don't have significant pot holes although I do go over uneven RR tracks often!

I don't BUT having subjectively looked at some others my optional Machined Faced Aluminium Wheels appear a bit beefier. But would not take that to the bank nor have I had them side by side.
Don't get me wrong, should GM increase material thicknesses to make them stronger? As a non tracker-yep. A few more pounds would not bother me! I just don't think it's the manufacturing method as do some. Sure you can buy a stronger light wheels like BBS but would not expect GM to put those on as standard.

Discount Tire also has a sign from the industry that said the same in a positive way with a green line over the tread between the outer treads in a pic of a tire with typical inner and outer tread widths that said we can repair punctures here! This leaves the GS with about 1/3 of the tire that can NOT be repaired!

If you live where there are pot holes I'd buy the wheel and tire insurance. You need a minimum of tire insurance as those 335 rear tiers are nail magnets. The outer trad is ~3 inches wide and the inner ~2 1/2 inches. Many folks will not repair a nail puncture in the outer treads as it is "too close to the side wall." I bought tire insurance from Discount Tire for $250 as Firestone was $325 and they will definably not patch a nail hole in the outer tread- company policy- been there!

The tire/wheel combo is sold by Chevy Dealers. Ask whoever you bought it from for a quote.
