Default [ASKED] Magnetic Ride Performance Calibrations

The recent announcement about the availability of improvements in the suspension calibrations for the C7 said this:

"2014-16 Stingray with Z51 features new calibrations in Tour and Sport modes.
2016 Stingray (non-Z51) features new calibrations in Tour, Sport and Track modes.
2015-16 Z06 (non-Z07) features new calibrations in Tour, Sport and Track modes.
2015-16 Z06 with Z07 Performance Package features new calibrations in Tour, Sport and Track modes."

Why was the 2014-2016 Z51 not included in the Track mode updates? The 2017 cars including the GS were not mentioned nor was there a mention about the 2018 cars. Do the 2017-2018 cars including the GS already have the enhanced calibrations or will they be a part of a future update.

thanks

bill

Maybe revise the question to add GS and 2018 C7s to get the most votes. I posted a question for 2018s, but was out voted for a question about the armrest.

at least your question got to the vote stage - my question concerning Corvettes direction for what is arguably the most important component on the car was vetoed in the submission stage...

That's a bummer. I am just hoping to get past the screening to get entered in the poll. I have a 2015 Z51 and track the car so enhancements to Track Mode for $350 would currently be more preferable than the $1300 for DSC and possible warranty issues.

thanks

bill

Has anyone done this? My dealer wants $590 to do it, says $350 is just for the new part.

The software is 350 but the installation is free. Your dealer has not read the bulletin. It gives him the code to charge back to gm.

I noticed the following text in the announcement. Are people leaving their car at the dealer or can you take it home and let it sit? My dealer is 50 miles away so its not like temps won't get up.

"In order to the get the maximum performance and consistency out of the updated calibration, please allow the vehicle to sit for 8 to 10 hours after the update. The MRC damper system has a built in temperature offset correction as part of the calibration. Allowing the vehicle to sit will allow the damper temperatures to normalize, and the temperature offset in the calibration to accurately reset. The vehicle is still functional without this process. However, the temperature offset correction will be less accurate, resulting in a less optimized operation until the damper temperatures are allowed to normalize."

I noticed that as well. Would the dealer be required to leave the car inside for that 8-10 hours? Could take it in at noon. Get the software loaded in the afternoon and let it sit overnight at the dealer. Not convenient if you are 50 miles away to have to come back but may have to be done.

Exceptionally poor communication to the dealer network, that seems to be the unfortunate norm.

I applaud GM for appearing to refine a top-shelf product like the C7 but it is completely worthless if the service departments can't do anything with it.

At some point, GM corporate has to decide if the Corvette is actually a point of pride and a true halo product or "just another Chevy". From the execution on this latest (in a long line) update is seems to be a tease for press indicating the latter...

Hope this makes it to Tadge's level and he has some sway with the support distribution side of GM to fix this...

Those that have managed to get the recalibration, either option seems fine- Leave overnight or update and take home to settle in for the night.

I personally would do either but my dealership is close by. If they could not guarantee the car would remain indoors overnight (reasonable if the shop has limited floor space) I'd take home...
