Default Best place to run power cable to battery in C5?

I am installing a sub amp and need to run a fairly heavy gauge power cable to the battery. I thought that I would check here first to see if anyone has found a convienient place to run this cable through the firewall to the battery??

TIA!!

...a coincidence!

I was just about to ask.

My service manual states theres a bundle of wires, in fact the main bundle that go into the car in the pass. side by battery.

In the AM i'm heading to the store and will buy some cable. I will look into how the stock wiring runs thru into the car. I have found that running the wires alongside the drivers and pass. side console under carpet to rear is best for me.

I have the amp and speakers and am soldering the RCA's sat. to enable use of the amp.

I will take pics then

Also, am beefing up the rear cover for sub with some wood. I will go to home depot and see the widths I can use. I will use this wood under the center rear cover and it should look like stock.

I am going to find this out as I go along.

As mentioned, there are a bunch of stock wires passing through a grommet in the firewall in the passenger footwell near the stock battery. You can fit another heavy gauge wire through there without any modification, just spray it with silicone spray to lube it up. Be sure to use Oxygen Free Copper cable to prevent degredation over time, and run power and signal wires at least 2 feet from each other, crossing only if necessary, and only at 90 degree angles. For signal RCAs, use twisted pair, forget about shielded ones.

As Sam Lin said, except, I drilled a 1/2" hole for the 8Ga wires + and -.
It worked out well.

The RCA's were from Radio shak, just a cheap pair 12foot long, and they work very well. I have absolutely no ignition noise and am very satisfied.

If you can hold out till tonight I will post pics to show where there is a rubber gromet you can use and avoid drilling!!! I put 0 gauge wire through the hole so it will fit a ton of stuff!

oops too late, but anyway the hole I made will serve other purposes too since it's so easy to access battery from there.

BTW - please check your battery for any leaks and acid on the bottom.
I found some.
