Re: 90 radio in 91 (vete76)
Fred;
It's possible that the radio from the 90 had a security code entered into it prior to being removed from the vehicle. These radios were equipped with GM 's Delco LocII theft deterent. If this is the case when you ad power to the radio unit it should display LOC when ever the ignition is turned on. If it is locked the 90 GM shop manual says it will have to be taken to a GM dealer. They have some way to hook the radio to a system which will read the default factory code for the unit. While there may be other ways to accomplish the task that's the best I can do. If the display doesn't display LOC check and see if the unit is getting B+ (12V) also check the ground.
Good Luck

the '90 Bose Gold had a security code feature?!?!? Wish I would have known that before I yanked mine! I guess it won't work now, huh?!

Have a '91 coupe with Delco Gold and been yanked twice and never did a "LOC" come up. I don't believe that these had the security feature (but I could be wrong).

Re: 90 radio in 91 (toddalin)
The 90's had the security system but it had to be enabled to work. I tested our car last night. I turned on the Loc system and then using the code I entered, was able to enable the radio or return it to working order. It's covered on page 178,179,180 of the owners manual. If you don't have an owners manual send me an email and I will scan those pages in for you.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the offer but I'm the original owner with all paperwork. Guess I never saw any need in setting the code and never gave it a second thought. After all, who would want to bother to steal one of these things... they're hard enough to give away!
Actually, mine now sounds far better than stock (actually it's like night and day). An AudioLink PD-4 and two pro series JBL amps in the rear compartment (80 watts x 4 of clean power) and extra tweets in the rear really bring the system to life. Now even with the 6.5" rear Bose speakers, this thing kicks out the sound

Todd;
I didn't mean to sound like a smart a??, I agree with you who would steal a Blose Gold or silver? Answer, Someone who had never had one or heard one!
Why would GM use such crap, And I think they still are. Why not contract with a good supplier and redesign the entire sound system for corvettes.
With as many unhappy C4, C5 owners I am surprized an after market supplier doesn't have a complete kit to replace the entire system with one easy to follow set of instructions and order form. Just my 2 pennies.
