I'm going to add the line output converter for an amp to power a sub but needing to know which wires to tap..
I found this:
"When tapping into the stock wiring, the low frequencies for bass ARE NOT present at the twiddlers. The 8" sub in the doors or behind the h/u must be tapped when adding a sub)."
I'll most likely tap the wires behind the head unit, but I need to know which ones those are.
Sorry, wish i could help, i used the pac interface. Maybe duramax dave can help you out. If he traces the wires from his interface to see which ones are being spliced into at the factory connections. That might help
I just finished installing a PAC AOEM-VET1 adapter in order to get RCA's for adding a sub. It was a plug-n-play except I did have to splice the remote turn on wire into the #8 dark green wire on the black plug (in back of the radio).
I have re-read your post a few times and it sounds like you are wanting to splice in this convertor instead of using an adapter. I have not done this (although I do have the ability to run line level inputs into my sub amp).
Does anyone know if you could tap into the rear speakers? They might be full range as opposed to the 3.5" twiddlers. Maybe someone will chime in here...
I could take my dash apart and see what color wires get routed to the PAC adapter. I do know this: if you are looking at the back of the radio, the wires that are Y'd into the PAC adapter would be the right hand side, top set of wires.
There should be a big plug on the left with both black and white plugs. On the right side there should be a set of about 4 wires on a white plug at the top. There should also be a set of about 2 or 3 wires on a white plug at the bottom. You would want to tap the top, white plug on the right.
Hope this makes sense....I didn't take pics of the back of the radio.

I tried this before doing a search on the forum and the sound sucks very much bad.
And we certainly don't want sucky sound in a Vette
I would tap into the wires I alluded to in my second post. If you take the Bose out and look at the three sets of connectors plugged into it, you should be able to get to the wires I mentioned.
Once you have the correct set of wires, I am not really sure which two to splice into for the line output convertor. I would chose two wires next to each other.
I'd suggest spending the coin on the PAC interface and not messing about with tapping into wires. I did this in my 02 trailblazer and had nothing but issues.
You'll get signal, but be unable to control the volume on the sub and if if my setup was any indicator theres some sort of frequency degredation that hoses the sigal and makes it sound like ***.
I did the PAC adapter and I know DPG did as well before going with a whole system. If you must use your line output convertor, just try as I suggested.
Yeah...the PAC adapter is a good way to go. Plus you'll get some adjustability with the output levels from the RCA's and you'll get two sets (front and rear) of RCA's.
Like I mentioned earlier, you'll have to splice one wire from the PAC adapter into the #8 green wire of the black plug in back of the radio. This provides power to the blue "Remote Turn on Wire" near the RCA's on the PAC adapter. If you are getting remote turn on power from somewhere else then you can disregard this step.
Yeah, the sub amp will always be on while the HU is on. Using a switch is a great way to control it. Other options would be to get an amp with a remote gain control **** and turn it down to her liking.
I know I can just fade to the front and it will reduce the signal going to the amp and turn down the amount of sub output. Between fading and turning the bass **** down, I can effectively kill the sub. Granted it is also changing the sound from the stock speakers too...but it works for now since I don't have a switch or gain control **** on the amp.

Can this PAC adapter be purchased anywhere besides the dealer?

Which RCA's would be best to use for the sub amp? Front or Rears OR does it even matter?
