Sirius or XM?
The Sirius music stations take a kind of commercial radio approach with DJ's and lots of chatter. Most of the XM stations don't have DJ's and just play music. Some do have a DJ during drive times. While some will scream that XM music channels have commercials that is not true - the Clearchannel music stations on XM have commercials, they were forced to carry those channels as part of an arbitration settlement with Clearchannel. All of the (many) XM music channels are commercial free. The Clearchannel stations are all marked with "cm" on the display.
Sirius has Howard Stern and NFL, will have NASCAR beginning next year. XM has major league baseball and NHL.
I am an XM subscriber and have been for many years. One of the reasons I fled FM radio was annoying DJ chatter so I prefer the XM style. YMMV

to check both and see what stations they
provide that play music to your liking. The
more stations that play your type of music, the
better it will be for you personally.
Better programming lineup, zero ads or plugs for stuff on their music channels... and if you are into this: stern, football, nascar i think now. Lots of other exclusive things will make Sirius be around for a long while.
I love the music linup, things aren't repeated very often, even if its a big hit, etc. Its just great.
I've had Sirius about 2.5 years now.
I have a seperate tuner in the trunk and use my head unit to control all the action. (Kenwood)
