How hard is it to put a tweeter in the door pull? It is worth the effort? How does it sound since it not pointed toward you. Is it better to run it next to the 6.5" on the door panel?
The install of the tweeter was fairly straight forward. You just need to get the bezel out from around the door pull and the use a dremmel tool to open up a hole.
As for the sound, after playing with the tweeter moving it up and down, I felt the sound was better with it up high. JMHO. I also installed a set of upstage tweeters in the a pillars which was also pretty easy to do.
IMO its a trade off, higher up in the door will move your sound stage a little bit but I find my leg and my passnegers leg block the speaker in the door alot and running the tweeter up higher would eliminate this problem and still lets me hear the highs. The infinitys can be a little on the bright side so keep that in mind. I think its easiest and generally speaking the best way to do it is in the door near the woofer
my logic for putting the tweeter by the mid was that if my mids are gonna get blocked by legs and what not, so should the tweeters. I was thinking that why should i just hear all tweeter and muffled mids, when they both can be muffled and just give them some extra juice. That was my thinking, could be totally wrong
the installation itself if very simple, just drill the hole (if you have a circular cutting bit, or drill a 1/2" hole and use a dremel sander with precision
I don't suggest it because of the difference in sound stage. You high frequencies will be at a different level (though on the same firing axis) as the mids.
I ran mine next to the woofer....but with a twist (still finishing the installation: first test planned for early next week)
I am going with Infinity 6010cs I am hoping to fit the mid, tweeter and crossover on the adapter. It will save me the extra time and wiring on the install.
Also quick question. What is a good gauge wire to use for these speakers and a set of 10" 250w subs? Knukonceptz.com sent me 16 gauge wire in their 4 gauge complete package.
