Still new to this and learning have been looking Jl's amps and sub 13w6... (might lean toward jl sub) Thought I'd put this out there to see what people were thinking.
I'm a big fan of Focal so I can't argue with your choices there!
I don't know the Kenwood, but a number of folks that post here have installed it and are very pleased. Garmin's NAV software is the best I've used, hands-down so from that standpoint it's hard to go wrong with that choice.
The sub choice is the real question here. The Focal is going to be a fast, tight and musical sub. The JL is a ground-pounder. While in the right box with the right power I'm sure it could also be very musical the W6/W7 design is power hungry and designed for output. The Focal has a sensitivity of 90db where the W6 is 87.4 so you'd need nearly double the power to produce the same decibels given the proper "ideal" enclosures for those subs. Folks normally dump HUGE amounts of power in the W6/W7 subs so the separate amp to drive it is a good idea. As always, you need to choose based on what you listen to and how you listen to it.

garmin based
focal (from all that I hear) wish I could fork the dough for some
The sub is sometimes the hardest decision to make. Choose one on what type of music you listen to. if you let us know what you like, we can suggest a few subs to meet those requirements
i always ask this first; have you actually listened to focals? I wouldn't buy them before you have a chance to listen to some. focals are accurate/detailed but a little bright imho. You may not like that sound and may rather something warmer like dynaudio.
I agree completely (as usual) with komon, about the subs. A 12w7 will be a bear to work into your vette, a 10w7 slightly easier. Personally I opted to go with a tc-9 sub from tc sounds.
Would like to say a big thanks to everyone on this....This is pointing me in some good directions....will update if you want. Thanks again

Always amazes me the focus on subs. I guess SPL's rule. If you really care about what your system SOUNDS like put your money and your time into your front sound stage.
i guess I got lucky on my front stage. i was happy with it and thought my subs lacked a bit. im glad I didn't change them out before adding a bigger amp. I learned my lesson there to give each component the power it needs and then some you guys are right though, each piece needs thought to all work together
no advantage unless your sub wont fit inside your box. it was more commonly used back in the 90's when subs need larger enclosures and you would to isobarically load a pair of subs (cones facing each other running out of phase). This would allow you to put a sub in an enclosure half the size that it required. the cost...well you're using two subs to get the same output as just one in a normal size box
I'm using a Kenwood DNX-7100 with Focals in the doors, JL's behind the seats and a JL Stealthbox with 10" subwoofer. I've also got an Alpine 4.100 amp in the passenger side cubbyhole. I couldn't be happier with the setup. I listened to every conceivable speaker and speaker combination before settling with the Focals. They simply sounded the best -- clearer, cleaner, not to bright. The matching tweeters are directional so you can experiment with them to get the best sound for your tastes. The subwoofer is key; I like the heavy thumping base the JL provides when I crank it up.
