Default Challenging subwoofer question

I have a C5,im taking out all of the bose stuff. I am putting in a new hu,components in the doors,& a 4ch. amp. Now the problem i have two 5lb. nitrous bottles in the center compartment in the hatch area. Would there be room for maybe two 8in. subs in there also,or maybe somewhere else? Any suggestions? Thanks

Would it be possible to put 8in. subs where the rear speakers are now?

Default NOS bottles and 2 8 in. subs

The factory locations are good for midbass but you won't get a good loading effect for the lower octaves. For bass, it would be better to use one 8 in. in the rear cubby than two 8's in the factory spkr. locations.

A good installer (and fabricator) should be able to fit both your bottles and a couple 8's in the center cubby, though to get the airspace needed, it will have to be done out of fiberglass. Luckily the angle of the cubby will let you position and angle the bottles right, too.

Hope this helps..gl

Thats the problem, where i live there is no good installers.I thought maybe i could buy a stealth box made out of mdf, already built, and maybe alter it to fit the bottles in. Think this would be possible?

Assuming that your 5 lb NOS bottles are 4.5" in diameter and 19" long, it shouldn't be a problem to make a box that fits in the middle of them, or the sub on one side and the two bottles on the other.

Here is a link to a box I drew up on CAD:

I don't see why you couldn't just change the width of the box to bring the sides in... maybe make the slanted board full width and mount the bottles to it? You could also make the top such that it covers the subs/bottles or leaves the valves exposed. (Unless you put them sideways for some reason.)

Got pix of your bottles installed? Let's see what you are working with.

I dont have any pics. This is a work in progress. The bottles dimensions are 5.25x17.64. The bottles would normally be mounted against the slanted wall of the center compartment.

That would be fantastic if you could make a box for me. I agree with you on the using the back wall up for the subs. The bottles will mount to the slanted part toward the front of the car.
