Issue with Peripheral Technology - Need Advice/Help
I have a C6 Vert that I had the Peripheral Technology added that allows you to use your iPod / iPhone to play MP3's through the stock NAV.
All it is, is a simple jack that was installed to the center console that I plug my iPhone into and allows me to play mp3's through the NAV. The interface sucks as you can only sort via track, artist, etc in which case you have to keep pressing the seek button to scroll through gigs of mp3's which take forever. Anyway, I'm not all that happy with the interface as I thought I would be able to select my music from my iPhone rather than through the NAV. Anyway. Here is my issue
At random times, I get "IPOD NOT CONNECTED" which to fix the connection you have rip out the center console and reset the the device for it to then re-recognize the iPhone or iPod. This happened once before and just recently did it again. And again, its not the battery as I have a brand new battery, and no power drain has occured either. It's just not working and its such a pain to reset when it doesn't recognize the iPhone.
Here is what I want:
To be able to play mp3's from my iphone through the factory NAV while using my Iphone to select my music. CAN THIS HAPPEN???? Somehow?
OR am I stuck with this stupid Peripheral Tech Device - IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN HELP ME.
Sorry, I'm so frustrated.
Sorry about the long post but really need someone to help me.
Thanks guys,
Bonez

If you have XM (even if it's not an active subscription) you can tap into the wires and create a switch as described in that link. You would need something separate if you want to be able to power/charge the iPod as well, but cigarette lighter charges are very common for iPods.
