Default 1991 delco bose radio/cd player problem

I hope someone can help me with my radio/cd player.

The head unit turns on and I get white noise through all four speakers and very low radio thorugh the front speakers but the volume is on max. The cd player reads err once I insert a cd and the Cassette player does not play tapes either. I tried to troubleshoot somethings, there is 12 volt power to the rear amps and speakers and I also hooked a cd player directly to the amp and speaker and it worked fine.

does anybody know what is going on here?

Thanks

Brakey

Sounds like you CDM, which is the brains of the system is bad. It is located under the glove box on the pass side. Please read the C4 sticky at the top of the section.

Thanks Randy,

Would the CDM also cause the cd and cassette player not to work in the head unit?

Thanks

Yes, the CDM controls everything, the HU is just a slave.
