Can I hard-wire a GPS power cord into my rear view mirror?
I really like my GPS mounted to the right to my rear view mirror on the windshield, but i can't stand the power/traffic cord hanging down. Can I hard-wire the GPS power cord into my rear view mirror? I have a '98 A4 and the rear view mirror is not an auto dimmer. The GPS is a Germin nuvi 1390t.
I was thinking about use using a female adapter or something like this.

That way I wouldn't have to cut the GPS cord and I could still use the GPS in my other vehicle. Plus I don't use the GPS everyday, only on long trips. So the extra cords would just be mounted to the back of the mirror to keep them out of site.
I really want to avoid hard-wire it to the fuse block and run it up the A-pillar.
The rear mirror seems like it should work but I'm not sure if the mirror would have the right power output. Any input would help.
Thank you

How much current (in Amps) does your GPS pull? Check the paperwork that came with device for it's specs and fuse rating.
Detectors draw very little but your GPS/screen may require quite a bit more.
