Take a close look at the wire and connector in this picture:



More often than not, you can see the locking part of the connector that holds it into the plug.

I have been able to use a small pin to reach into the socket and press the locking tab down to remove the wire from the socket on other types/styles of connectors. Sometimes it requires pushing in slightly on the wire, sliding the pin along the top of the connector to unlock the tab, then gently pulling the wire out of the socket.
