Default where to mount antenna

Just a quick question, thinking about a nav unit for my 2002 convertible.
The ones I've looked at in Crutchfields catalog mention long cables
10-14 ' for the antenna. Where are these mounted in a normal corvette
installation?
I'm assuming the trunk area how hard is it to route the cable back there?

In a c6 the nav antenna is under the dash mounted to a plate near the center of the dash. The better question is where is the best place to mount it in a c5.

Depends on what that antenna looks like. I don't have a picture right now but the GPS antenna for the Pioneer unit is about 1 inch square and half in high, it is magnetic and comes with a self adhesive flexible metal stick on. With the antenna just laying in place in the far lower passenger corner of the windshield, tuck and run the cable along the side pillar and under the dash to the opening into the center console near the back of the radio unit.

It helps to pop off the A pillar trim. Be sure the metal clips stay with the plastic trim, if they don't pull them off with pliers and reattach to the trim before you reinstall it. When you reinstall the trim have a little extra antenna wire out about 3" of cable, put the forward edge of the trim in first, peek in between the trim and pillar as you line up the tabs to the slots in the pillar and press to fit. Then take up the slack in the cable in needed and tuck one edge of that flexible plate against the windshield and trim to hold it tight. You'll barely notice it there.

That flexible plate will just wedge against the windshield where the trim touches and stays put. You don't need to remove the adhesive backing and stick on anything. It just stays put without it or damaging your instrument panel pad or trim.

I'll try to get a picture and post it.

In my C5 I snaked the wire back to and antenna inside the rear bumper, double taped it to the inside top ...

On my C5 I allso have the Pioneer with GPS, my unit was run up the drivers side windshild piler post across top of windshild exits right behind rear view mirror post then stuck to glass, can not be seen from inside, mirror blocks view.Dark tint at top of glass makes it very hard to see outside.Works extremely well.

I wondered about sticking it on the glass but then thought well that points the antenna inside. I dunno...

I might have used that area near the rear mirror too except I have a toll transponder sticker on the windshield hiding behind the mirror.

The GPS antenna can pretty much be anywhere in the car and still function properly, mine is on the vents above the radio. Sat radio antennas can be problematic, but GPS can be put anywhere.
