One thing really confuses me....with the 9990HD.....which harness retains all of your stock features. The car is a 08 convertible with navigation, bose, and I use the onstar all the time. Does it matter with heads up display (it currently shows some navigation and cd info)?
Kenwood has a new Maestro harness coming. Just is not finished yet.
This is going to be retail of 169.99 half the price of the gmos100
not sure if the Maestro harness from Kenwood will work with HUD yet

I am having a 9990HD installed on Tuesday. How big of a deal will it be to switch harnesses (to the Maestro) if it will support headsup display.
I went back over to the shop that will be doing the install this morning. After discussing what additional features the GMOS100 will support, I decided the cost difference was not worth it.
I will be really interested in the new kenwood harness if it supports the heads up display.

I have a 9980HD and don't have any problem with it being slow. It's my understanding the people complaining are the ones with Ipod/Iphones hooked up with like 10 billion songs on them that is causing the problem. Also I decide on the 9980HD because Kenwood removed feature from the 9990HD that are on the 9980HD and I couldn't pass up $700 for a brand new 9980HD.

My 9980HD has always been slow as molasses and there's no Ipod/Iphone involved. My understanding is that Kenwood has recognized the problem and apparently their best response is to offer the 9990HD. AFAIC the 9980HD never should have been released. It is not a good idea to buy something that has not been out long enough to be well evaluated by unbiased audiophiles.

many changes to speed of the units.
The 9990 is a 2012 model as the 9980 unit is no longer available.
The 80 series Kenwood were slower yes as well as the 60, 40 and 20 series.
Each year they improve on something
Pioneer had horrible NAV in the past. They listened as well and upgraded the nav to a much better NAVTEQ based nav
