Is there a how-to radio install for the C5?
I have been searching this site for days and cannot figure out exactly what I need to do.
I have a singe din pioneer premier radio I am wanting to install.
i have read that I need to buy an adapter to work with my current bose system.
I have also read that i will have to replace every speaker and rewire the system completely.
Anyone have a god walk through or how-to on installing a radio into my 04?
I would like to figure out everything I need before I start tearing into it.

You just need a ROEM-VET1 harness to connect to your Pioneer radio is all
http://shop.doubledmods.com/searchqu...ords=roem-vet1
Just use my double din install guide with the wiring I show and it will guide you through the install
http://www.doubledmods.com/Installation.php
only difference fro my pics is you will need to use a mini fuse to plug into open fuse slot number 22 in passenger footwell as there is no yellow wire on an 04 to connect to

(97-03) you
can run to passenger footwell to the yellow wire that is taped off.
(there is also a black ground and orange wire12v there as well) for an
04you will need a mini fuse to connect to the fuse box as the 04 does
not have these 3 wires to connect to.

Starting to install today. Any idea what a mini fuse is or what I connect it to on my 04?
Any pics of it?

The best way to do it is with an "add-a-circuit" fuse insert. For a mini-fuse you need THIS ONE, and for a normal sized ATO/ATC fuse you need THIS ONE. These should be available at your local Wal-Mart.
Another way to do it is with 'Fuse Taps' like THESE, but I don't think I've ever seen them for mini-fuses, so you'd have to file one down to get it in the slot.
In a C5 it appears that Mini-Fuse #22 in the passenger footwell is the one to tap. If I were you, I'd use a meter or test light to determine which side of the fuse is powered and which side is fused. Pull the fuse out, find which side has +12v with the car running and that's the power side, the other side is the fused side. Tap into the fused side.
This pic is from my C6, but it shows both of the above taps. In the first pic, the red wire centered at the bottom of the pic is attached to an add-a-circuit. The red wire that loops through the box is attached at each end to spade taps. The rest of the pics are just for better angles. Don't forget, THESE PICS ARE MY C6, you need to do the same type of connections in the footwell box of your C5, so it will look different.

I believe the only wire you need to connect that isn't in the harness you should have is the switched power source that signals the radio when to turn on, right?
Do an advanced search for "switched power wire" in C5 topics only....

The wire you run from the footwell is the one that turns on the radio when you start the car, called 'switched' power (connect it to red wire on new radio). The always there battery and ground sources are in the oem radio plug and available at the interface adapter (yellow and black wires).
