Default couple of audio questions for a 1989 C4 coupe

1. Is it possible to install a double din unit? The lack of search results suggests not, and I don't have a problem going with a single din. I have a nice navigation unit from my old car though, and I'd hate to waste it.

2. I have the Bose system in the car currently, but I'm going to remove it and put in a new stereo and new speakers. Can I use the existing wiring for the speakers ? I plan to start with 4x6 plates in the dash, and 6.5 inch in tthe rear

Thanks!

1 - Don't know

2 - You could use the old wires, but why? It's very easy to run new speaker wires, and if you do an aftermarket amp it's required.

if you mod the center stack of components and cut/mod the bezel I think a Double DIN could fit..

Although it has been a long while since I had my 89 so I would suggest measuring first

You are correct:

Not counting any of the plastic mounts and such, there is exactly 4" between the bottom of the instument switches/lights, and the top of the A/C controls. So, a DDIN could fit. All I'd have to do is trim all of the plastic behind the dash that interferes, create new mounts for the stereo and custom mould new center console trim.

Sounds like a fun project to try someday. But for me, not today
