What version of Plex do you have? I have the 'free' one, I assume it is a different one for Android use
Also do you there your phone when you get in your car? if so, do you have Tasker to automatically do it for you?
I have the pro version of plex because i got $50 of google credit when i bought my moto360. I use plex at home as well as a media center instead of cable so its worth it. My phone was not playing well with tasker to enable wifi tethering when i get in the car so i have one step at the moment and that is to turn on tethering on the phone. bluetooth is auto connecting. once im connected i use the plex app on the head unit and keep my phone in my pocket. I use a usb mic for voice commands.

I mounted it where the ashtray is and it seems to pick up my voice well at that distance. The mic that came with it is working great for phone calls. I mounted that next to my seatbelt/hip area on the center console. Even with the top off it is not picking up much background noise.
Project is not dead.. I am just trying to keep the car together to enjoy it
List of changes:
-Add HDTuner (latest version of OS has the ability to use the Aux in without video)
-Add USB encoder ****
-Add Bass ****
-install 8" rear speakers in place of the 6.5"
-New radio bezel and remount the radio better
-move phone microphone to be hidden in AC vent in dead space
-add USB mic to same area for use with Google Now ( android and Phone Mics are separate)
all that is outside of other issues I need to resolve
Testing my Arduino shield and connection to android. going well. the developer keeps updating things.. looking forward to reinstalling my HD tuner as another option for the system

BUT: the Headunit, with the Arduino DUE along with the autosense Shield works nicely. It has a connector to connect it to the HDTUNER.. so far so good.. here is a shot of the UI (Autosense)

UPDATED the List of changes:
-Add HDTuner.. Installed in the OEM spot from the stock Tuner Module under the dash.. fits very well and out of the way
-Add USB encoder **** decided not to use this
-Add Bass **** on hold, this was going in with a crossover. Decided to sell the crossover
-install 8" rear speakers in place of the 6.5" sold the 8s.. not changing right now
-New radio bezel and remount the radio better in process, custom bezels are always a PITA
-move phone microphone to be hidden in AC vent in dead space still planning on this
-add USB mic to same area for use with Google Now ( android and Phone Mics are separate)not sure I can do this with Autosense, need to look into it
Also thinking of swapping the Arc Audio Amps for smaller Digital amps ( but I would need 3 amps) foot print of an iphone 6s + which would be nice
I am currently doing a radiator upgrade and a couple engine maintenance things I have been needing to do..
The custom bezel above is built with 4 pieces.. 2 are from a 94-95 bezel ( widening and top of radio)
This was the Tablet bezel so I needed to make the radio opening smaller that was accomplished with pieces from a hacked 95 console bezel.. I keep forgetting to buy primer and finish it. Here is what I have been doing:
Top tube is untouched
the ends have hoses over them so no sense in polishing, but the polished part looked like the ends when I started
but the Arduino/HDTuner and radio seem to play nice.. there are a couple minor issues and I need a pre-amp between the HDTuner and radio.. then everything should be good for the season...
