This was an awesome build. I am planning on doing the same thing in the next week with my 04 Z06.

My biggest worry is getting speakers that are not thin enough for the front or rear. Also, may I ask how many boxes of sound mat and foil did you need?

i took the package # 2 from Raamaudio... I should have gotten a little more!

As for the speakers, the depth of my fronts were okay, but the rears were not. So go on JL audios website and look up my speaker info. Don't get a speaker that deep unless you willing to modify a little. I only got them cause they were supposed to be plug and play... anyways just glad it worked out okay!

Nothing you can do. When the key goes from ACC to start, power is interrupted causing the head unit to reboot. You have the same issue with the stock HU, but you don't notice it as much since it doesn't really reboot... Computers...

The post talks about how to wok around the power down issue when cranking the key from On to START by adding a capacitor -

I did not run into this with my C6Z, but in case it's of interest here (regardless of vehicle or head unit):

In my RAV4, when the ignition is turned to START, the accessory circuit opens (cuts power) and triggers the HU to shut down. This is super annoying when waiting for a passenger to run an errand since I switch the ignition from ON to ACC to continue using the HU with the engine off and then suffer through a reboot when restarting the engine (ACC to START to ON), which interrupts radio, music, Bluetooth connections, navigation, etc.

To work around this problem, I added a simple circuit that uses a capacitor to keep the (typically red) ACC_PWR input to the HU live for a few seconds. Frustratingly, I next discovered that the starter motor temporarily draws the vehicle's battery voltage down to ~10V, which the HU can't tolerate on the continuous power circuit, so it still rebooted. To work around that problem, I assembled a battery pack (that is topped off when the engine is running) with another circuit to keep the (typically yellow) CON_PWR input to the HU live. No more reboots!

Hey guys,

Just noticed my battery is leaking.

When i put the volume way up my headlights also dimm a bit.

What battery do you guys suggest?
My old one is a ac delco and had side posts.

Should i also consider doing the big 3 as well?

Should i get one of those optima batterys? If yes should i go for top posts or aide posts?

Thanks

Batt and big 3 should help. I had no issues with a JL HD900/5, but my 08 has the GM 145a alternator. I have to get time to install a Mechman 170 for the new system.

Anyways, battery for sure cause its leaking.

Red top? Yellow top? What style posts should i get?

I have the larger of the Optima red tops, will fit in the stock location with no mods required. This battery has both types of posts on the one battery.

Just did the same heat and sound insulation to my 02 vert, used Vettenuts premium precut kit with Ensolite and foil together also installed a partition in the trunk, result is very good i think.
I am waiting for delivery of a doubledin panel so great to see how you solved the stereo install, i will only replace the original HU to start with to see what results i get from the original Bose speakers.
I did go with this Optima yellow battery http://uk.optimabatteries.com/en-gb/...etail/yt-u-42/ that have original contacts and the extra on top that i have permanent CTEK connection to plugin with the charger, costly yes but seems to be a strong alternative as these cars drain battery while standing still.

Did both insulation and rollbar installation new battery at the same time roughly.
Have a Kenwood DDX7015BT 7" but the panel from Vettenuts is delayed so have to wait for the audio upgrade.

Made by www.rpmrollbar.com perfect fit only thing is that it is a very tight with fuel tanks under installation, have to be careful.
