AVH 4200NEX Ordered - What else needed?
I just ordered the AVH 4200NEX for a phenomenal price. I've got the Kicker Package installed in my 08 base w/ bose and steering wheel controls.
Question is, what else do I need to get for my install? Should I ditch the bose amp and get something else between the head unit and the kickers? Thanks!

At minimum you will need a wiring harness and Metra 95-3304 face plate kit. For wiring harness I suggest the PAC-Audio RP5-GM11. Then you need to decide if you want SiriusXM (if so, you will need SXV300v1 tuner) or if u want a camera. Both are optional.

3 outputs on the Pioneer, I use all 3 for amps.
I bought the Pioneer rear camera but I wouldn't say the quality is any better than a generic camera.
I also ran a USB cable and a phone cable from the back of the unit into my console so I can listen to music on a USB stick and use the Mirrorlink

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pioneer-A...00NEX/51031227
Plus it qualifies for the $100 rebate Pioneer has right now:
ttp://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Rebate
That gets it down to $365.35!!!

I can't remember the rule on external links, so if this gets removed by an admin, let me know and I'll PM it to you. Believe it or not it's on the Walmart Marketplace.

I'll pull the trigger on that one now too - great deal!

As a side-note, I see Amazon.com has it at the same price as well - but sold by Pioneer - so this should probably qualify for the $100 mail-in rebate also, according to the authorized dealer list on pioneers' site...

You did notice that the walmart.com unit is shipped and sold by "sound of Tri-state" right? Wonder if that is covered as sold by walmart.com?

can't remember if you need a brake bypass for one of those or if it will ground to chassis .
if you need a bypass they are as little as 7.99 with FS on ebay

Why did you decide to go without nav? What will you use?

if you don't mind tethering google maps are far superior to nav especially in urban areas
i kind of like nav though. don't always want cords or my phone plugged in
SQ wise pioneer has the worst pre outs if you care about sound. in order of what's common in here it's Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer in that order for being musical and accurate

Racebum is spot on. I did it because I'm a big android guy and I use google maps / Waze. I have no need for an in-unit nav.

Yeah, I wasn't super excited about the Pioneer, but I couldn't get these features in any other unit for less than TWICE the cost of this unit after the rebate. I'm certainly no audiophile, so I don't mind not having the "certified" best SQ. Just give and take really. I wanted to stay under $500 for the whole package and I was able to do that AND get all the features I wanted, so I'm happy. Now my only debate is whether or not I take the the bose amp out of the equation all together or just be happy with the pioneer / kicker combo. I'll know for sure after I get it all hooked up and turned on.

I went with the 8200 and have been real happy with it. In addition to having built in nav compared to the 4200, it also has a capacitive touch screen which is a nice improvement over the resistive touch screens found on the cheaper models. The 4200 is a nice model for the price, but for me I wanted to keep the built in navigation. Both units have Apple Carplay and Android Auto, so if you choose you can always use the navigation in your phone through the head unit. Myself, I hate plugging my phone in for anything or having my car dependent on it, and I have been real happy with built in navigation when I have used it.
