Default Sony XAV AX100 + Pac RP5 GM11 = No Steering wheel controls

Anyone else have any issues with this combo? I've tried 2 different harness' now and neither of them will cooperate with my steering wheel volume controls. Everything else works fine. My installer has called PAC support and they blamed it on the Sony unit so now we're on standby with Sony to see what's going on.

Try setting the PAC Audio module to 7 instead of 8. I heard that should do the trick.

I saw this in the Sony thread by searching but that didn't work either. I'll go to a different installer to see if they know what's up.

I'm the OP in the thread TorchRed is linking to. I had to unplug the factory harness from the PAC module, THEN change the setting from position 8 to 7, then reconnect and hit the reset button on the PAC module once. I think that if you don't disconnect the factory harness before changing the settings, somehow it doesn't work. Best of luck!

I'm thoroughly disgusted. I took it upon myself to see what in the heck was going on and low and behold:

-On the pac5 they plugged the harness into the non-amplified port when it should've been in the amplified one (Bose system as indicated by all the speaker grill badges lol). This eliminated all of my hiss and sensitivity issues.

-Steering wheel controls because SWC wasn't connected to anything! I simply plugged it into the "remote" port behind the XAV-AX100 and it worked.....

I'll break down a motor, do bolt-ons, whatever but I hate electronics and this was one of the easiest things i've ever done. Definitely attempt to do the install yourself. I'll be stopping by the shop today to give them hell for a refund. Thanks for all the help but this was clearly install error.

Sorry about your install issues, but I am looking at the XAV-AX100.. how do you like the unit overall (outside of the install issues)?

Thanks

All good! The unit is great! The touch screen is kind of weird however, it's like pressing over a plastic screen to get to the real screen. Think of a otterbox phone case with the built in screen cover. Booting takes around 5 seconds and there's a warning screen that requires you to press "ok" every time you start it up. Will definitely require some EQ once installed as it's set to "flat" by default. Plenty of presets to run through or you can adjust EQ throughout the frequency range (up to 16k I think?).

This is all just nitpicking though. For the price it's a great unit and i've been very content with it.

Yeah, that is the resistive touch screen. I like the clean Ui of this unit.. I also like the Alpine ILX-207, but the sony has a nicer price

My challenge is if I want to swap out my Android HU

I'll most likely swap this unit out for the 107 (thanks Jeff!) if it comes down any in price later. I hate wires and the center console gets too hot for my phone despite efforts to reduce heat.

Keep in mind the 207 is still wired (assume you have an iPhone) the 107 is wireless car play

Yeah if the price of the 207 /107 was dropped I would be all over it

Only thing is the 107 locks you into an iPhone, although I have found my iPhone last longer than the androids I have had)
