Default Best place to mount tweeters??? C5

I'm installing Polk Audio db 6501 6.5" component speakers up front to match the db 651 coaxial rears.
The amp is a Rockford Fosgate R400-4D 400W Class D amp.

My car is a little loud. I have sound deadened it quite a bit.
High end audiophile quality sound is not important to me. I just want a good sounding system on a budget.

I am wondering where is the best place to mount the tweeters for a compromise between esthetics, ease of installation and sound.

I have seen them in the stock location nearest the mid driver at knee level. This seems like it would be optimal for phasing but not for sound stage.

I have seen them in the door pulls. Stealthy, but complicated.

Then there is the "A" pillar. It seems like this would be best for sound-stage but would be bright as hell and perhaps too close. This spot is not to stealthy.

Any one have any input?

What do you folks think?

I run older high end Rockford audiophile series components front and rear in my C5 Z with extensive sound deadening. My front Tweeter is mounted behind door panel grille just above the woofer so is at knee level or below. I always preferred the tweeter up high if possible on the A pillar, etc but I have to say I am really surprised at how good they sound down there. My sound stage and imaging are both good and I have more than enough tweeter with the Rockfords as they lean towards being a little bright but very clean overall. The biggest bonus is the mid bass after extensive treatment to my door panels. I have never had mid bass that hits as well and is as clean as in my C5. Doing up your doors right is worth every penny!

Man, that is a relief to hear.
I really didn't want to have visible tweeters as I have some pretty extensive leather work in progress.

Yes, I am sound deadening the doors along with the rest of the car.

Awesome. You won't regret it! That is my favorite mod of all my mods to the car. I would even take sound deadening over my blower if I had to choose.

sound is easier to tune if the tweeter is next to the woofer. if you get the tweeter up higher the problem is it's closer to your ear and without a multi channel dsp to adjust timing you hear it first.

I putting them nearest the 6.5" driers. I noticed that the stock Bose twidlers are mostly behind the door card, probably for esthetic reasons. I'll mount the tweets closer to the grille.

I mounted the tweeters behind the door pulls - easy to do and sounds great. Here's a pic i copied off the forum showing how someone else did it

without using a dsp for time correction this is what i would do too. you want the woofer and tweeter as close as possible

move them further apart and especially if the tweeter is higher and you will hear it first as the sound from it will reach your ear before the woofer does. i absolutely hate trying to tune cars/trucks that have a low on the door woofer and tweeter way up high. you need a dsp to do it correctly. without that you have to just play with tweeter level and bring it down then eq the top end back up

One thing I am noticing is that there is not a lot of room in a C5 for the X-over.

FWIW I had a C5 and mounted surface mount 1.5 tweeter right next to the speaker grille on the front part upper of the door panel, "snaking" the wire from behind the grille to the tweeter. Wire does not show as tweeter is so close to grille.
Also mounted same surface tweeters (in a Vert) right behind the seat at shoulder level when seated on B pillar....so to say. I have no pictures.
To me sound was improved.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Morel-Supre...QAAOSwIFtaHzcM

msrp on these is 5k

one of a handful of exotic speakers found in the world's best SQ cars along side the dynaudio esotar2, focal Be flagships etc

basically unheard of to see them so cheap from an authorized dealer

Outside my price range. My Vette is kind of loud.
Shoot him a low figure.

Hmmm....I might be your huckleberry. It says they are used though? Also, they require an active dividing network don't they?

yep. need a 4ch amp + active crossover / dsp for those. you can call dynamic and ask the story but they are likely demo units. msrp on these is $5500

speakers on that level you would always run active

same woofers used in their 40k fat lady home speakers

1299 is unheard of even used
