Default Just installed a Pioneer AVIC-5200NEX in my C5. Some questions

I just installed a Pioneer AVIC-5200NEX in my C5.

I have some issues and hope that those who have experience with the Pioneer NEX models and/or the Axxess XSVI-2004 adapter harness can point me in the right direction

I used the AXXESS Metra INSTXVI-2004 adapter harness and module to adapt the Pioneer to the stock C5 wiring harness and the stock Bose woofers in the doors, but had long ago replaced the Bose twiddlers in the doors and the rears with Kicker speakers.

I have installed many car stereos in many different types of cars and boats in the past with success........but this is the first C5 install.

1. The Pioneer remains ON when the car is turned Off.....not good.

2. The bass output is way below what I had with the stock BOSE head unit. Yes, I have tried many different settings in the equalizer.....but still almost no bass.

3. Is there a setting that will play my recorded music in a random order?

4. The rear and front cameras do not function regardless of what position the A4 shifter is in.

Any and all help will be appreciated !

Thanks,
Jim

I pulled out the Pioneer and the AXXES unit and harness yesterday and double checked all the connections..........all tested fine.
When I reinstalled everything today my Pioneer would barely even start.
All I get is the left side buttons illuminating but nothing functions when the buttons are pressed.
So I pulled it all out and will submit a warranty claim on the Pioneer ;^(
But perhaps the issue is the AXXES unit.......don't know how to test it.

Reinstalled my stock Bose HU ......it works fine so there is nothing wrong with the stock wiring.

The Axxes unit has gain adjusters on it, have you tried manipulating those?

The violet white wire needs to be connected to the camera power source. Without it, it won't detect whether or not the cameras are on. How are your cameras wired up?

Does it remain on when you turn the car off and open the door?

Tsumi,

Thanks for taking a look and replying.

Since I couldn't get the Pioneer to function yesterday I am going to send it in for repair while I still have a warranty.
When it returns from repair I will start over wire by wire.
I will post up once the unit returns.

Thanks again,
Jim

Update 5/12,

Seems the Pioneer 5200NEX of mine did have issues, though I don't have specifics yet.
It has been in repair since 5/3 ;^(

So will try again when and if it returns from repair.

Glad it was a HU issue.

Update 5/15/18:

Well, the repair center called to say that the parts needed are not available so they refunded my full purchase price.

So all that time was wasted...............

But on the upside (I hope) I just ordered a new Kenwood DNX893S Navigation Bluetooth, Double DIN, 6.95" In-dash Receiver.
When it arrives I will post up regarding the fitting process with the VN DD Bezel and mounting it in the C5's cage.

as fyi, you have it connected wrong in the first pic.

the black harness that is currently going into your "black box" with the out put should be plugged into the xsvi unit (about half the size of the one you have) and the speaker plug should plug into that.

Yes, that was corrected prior to install.

The Pioneer has been replaced with a Kenwood.

However, the issue with the unit not turning off when the ignition is off, key removed and door opened remains.

I don't recall having to initialize anything. It was plug and play.

Did it power on right away when you connected the harness?

Tsumi,
Thanks for keeping track ;^)

Both the Pioneer and now the Kenwood would not power up unless switched On with the button on the unit which is fine. But neither would ever turn off with the key removed, door open or closed unless switched Off with the button on the unit. So the RAP is not working at all.
I did a manual wire by wire test to see if there was a wire crossed or miss connected........everything checks out fine. Then a friend suggested a sequential test to try to find out if the issue was in the Axxess or in the head.

At the Kenwood connector with the Kenwood harness unplugged

Key ON door closed
Yellow is ON
Red is OFF
--------------------------------
Key OFF door closed
Yellow is ON
Red is OFF
----------------------------------
Key ON. door Open
Yellow is ON
Red is OFF
---------------------------------
Key OFF. door Open
Yellow is ON
Red is OFF
--------------------------------
--------------------------------
At the Kenwood connector with the Kenwood harness plugged in
SAME RESULTS AS ABOVE

Key ON door closed
Yellow is ON
Red is OFF
--------------------------------
Key OFF door closed
Yellow is ON
Red is OFF
----------------------------------
Key ON. door Open
Yellow is ON
Red is OFF
---------------------------------
Key OFF. door Open
Yellow is ON
Red is OFF
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
Seems like the Red is never getting any power out of the Axxess.

I know the Axxess unit can sometimes take up to 5 minutes to power on after key on (red wire on). If it doesn't ever power on, then you have a faulty Axxess unit.

Great minds think alike .........

BUT, I returned the original Axxess when the Pioneer failed and bought a new Axxess before I got the Kenwood, new modules and wiring harness...........but the exact same issue remains.
But as they say, "third time is the charm" so I now have a new/ different model Kenwood and new Axxess on the way.

BTW, The Axxess is functioning as I can tell by adjusting the four pots on it.

Update:

I returned the Kenwood and ordered a slightly different model. I also bought a new Axxess unit.........surprise, everything worked when I installed the two new units :^)
