A new c5 audio build God help me!
Well ive just embarked on a full audio upgrade on my 2004 convertible! I have been researching for months and had buyers paralysis. I just purchased two Focal P25F 10” subwoofers. I’ll be purchasing and installing Focal PS 165F3 3-way active components for the doors and PC 130F coax for the rear fills. I’ll be power a Kenwood DDX99904S with the new JL Audio VX800/8i and VX600/1i amps with built in DSP like the TWK88. I’ll be doing the Big 3 and full sound deadening with vettenuts premium and soundskin or raam audio for the doors. This is no small investment so I’m asking for any comments, suggestions or advice! Geronimo!!!

Subbing! Dude, I wish I could help you do the install. I'm dying to know how those amps work out...I was about to jump on a set myself.

Wow, it sound like you have a whole lot of good stuff there. Should turn out real nice.

i did review your build tread! Good stuff. I wish I could go with horizontal firing but the convertible won’t allow it. It’s hard to get a consensus on upfiring versus corner subs. Everybody seems to say their setup is great! I’ve never built a system so still researching.

I don't agree with others that removing the rear speakers is a good idea. Even the stockers are better than nothing. I've tried it both ways...and 100% positive you should keep the rear speakers. Just my humble .02.

That's the difference between "louder" and "cleaner". Sure, more sources move more air and make more noise. Music is only recorded in two channels (Left and Right), so any time you have two sources trying to deliver the same "Left" signal, you have the opportunity for misalignment and reduced overall quality. The best home audio systems I've seen all have only one "Left" source (which may be divided across multiple drivers to cover the frequency range) and one "Right" source. Sometimes less is more.

A center well box would be fine but I doubt you can get enough airspace in the box for 2 10's to sound good. In fact, they will likely sound horrible with a lack of the low end punch that you crave. It will be kind of a nasty mid bassy sound. The best luck I have had is to use a sealed enclosure that has a little more volume than what the sub needs. For instance, many 10's are suitable for around .75 cubic feet of airspace. I will push the enclosure airspace accounting for woofer displacement to closer to a cubic foot. In order to accommodate 2 10's I went with the Vettenuts corner enclosure with additional airspace added (custom built for me). They sound really good and in the cabin of a C5 more than adequate amounts of bass. One really good 10 would probably be enough if you choose the center well.

I get it man...I do. I just disagree. In my car, I've run just fronts. And just rears. And both. Both has 100% of the time sounded better. Of course it's subjective to the listener. Maybe the OP will leave them out, completely his call. I just can't appreciate 50% of a sound stage which is how every "no rear" setup has sounded, again...to me.
