Android Auto
I've had my Avic 8200 NEX radio for a couple of years now. It came with Apple car play plus android connectivity I never used. I always had an I phone so never tried an Andriod phone.
I have since updated my phone to a Galaxy S9 and have been getting familiar to the android platform again. I had to swap the USB android cable to the c type cable and download android auto to my phone. Once I connected to the 8200 I looks to work as well as Apple car play. Also being able to use google maps is a plus. I haven't used it much but my first impressions are pretty positive.

I was playing blue tooth audio through my phone but I wanted a wired connection because it sounds better. The pioneer 8200 nex comes with an external Mic so i'm pretty sure you don't need an additional one for google commands.
Here's a link of how I works

Update. Call me an Apple snob but Carplay seems to be more intuitive in playing music. Scrolling through songs it actually stopped me from looking for safety. Waze does work though a bit buggy.

AA does this as well.. whether using Google Play Music, Sirius, etc. Only lets you browse for about one scroll.. then 'nope'
