Default Can I replace a Cassette 16257631 with a CD 09390211 radio?

Currently have a Cassette radio (16257631) in a 98 vert with a 12 CD changer in the trunk. Can I use a CD radio (09390211) as a replacement and still have the same functions including the 12 CD changer in the trunk? Are there any GOTCHAS? The rear connectors look slightly different from the pictures I've seen. Are the connectors now in my 98 C5 compatible with the 2000+ CD radio? Will the CD radio know the difference between the CD in the radio and the 12 CD changer when changing modes?

I am told that the C5 radio is under control of the BCM. Does the BCM know which specific radio is installed in the car? Does it need to be modified?

Any radio from any year C5 will work in any C5 with or without the changer. So, yes you can do this.
