Hey guys. I'm in process of a build and I'm starting to map out things like gauges. I'm torn on the old school gauge pods on the pillar. I'm not too much a fan of the dashlogic so I had a thought about using the head unit for them.
I noticed on my kenwood it has a tab that is a obd2 program and I was wondering if anyone has/is/did use the radio for their gauge setup.
my main questions are as follows.
1-how responsive are the gauges to the info they are trying to display. (Do they lag/glitchy/slow)
2-is it analog or digital. I prefer some sort of needle
3-how is the data relayed. Cable? Bluetooth? Scree share with phone?
4-how well does it work. Did you have to mess with all sort of crap every time you get in the car?
Last but not least,
are you iPhone or Android
also tell make and model or head unit and programs you are using.
thanks. .

The OBD11 info for these head units is most commonly sent to these head units via an idatalink maestro interface https://maestro.idatalink.com/produc...product_id/102 however, for some reason, idatalink doesn't make one for the Corvettes, a number of people have written them (including myself) inquiring as the whether or not they the plan on making one for the Vette, but it sounds like they don't plan on it. There's no other way to do this that I'm aware of.

Awe that figures. I'd imaging the lag between those gauges would be annoying, but I guess we will never know LOL

Actually they work pretty good, I have the idata link interface in my Ford truck with a Pioneer head unit that displays the OBD2 data, you can select different gauges to display. I'm really disappointed they don't have one for the Vettes, of any vehicles, you'd think the Vette would be one they'd have one for.

EXACTLY !!! that was my thought
It's good to hear that it works like it should on the truck though.
I WONDER if there is another adapter for a GM car that supports the idata that WOULD work on the vette but they just dont know it? For instance a cobalt SS/G8 etc etc I am not going to be the one that tries it and finds out it doesnt work though LOL

I've often wondered that myself, but, I like you, aren't willing to go through the expense of trying it to find out.
Reopening this old thread because I recently got a Escort Redline 360 Radar detector and wanted to hook it up to my aftermarket Kenwood HU in my C6. I was successful in doing that and Radar alerts are shown on the HU and I can change options etc. In the install instructions it also tells you how to hook up Gauges to your head unit using the Maestro (RR2) and a cord that comes with it (the M4 cable). The diagram shows attaching 2 cables to Pin 6 and 14 of your OBDII connector. I spliced into the cords to pin 6 and 14 under the dash and hooked it into the Maestro RR2 It doesn't seem to communicate properly and the gauge page says "Error 2" or "ODB Disconnected". I've never actually got it to work and wonder if anyone here has done so. I've attached the wiring diagram from idatalink. idatalink radar / obdii hook up diagram

perhaps but the instructions seem to indicate as long as you can tap into a obd canh and canl cable of most 2008 and newer cars it should work. Does gm do something in their obd wiring for those two pins that are different from everyone else?
