Reason: added pictures
I just received my 9" Panasonic from Crutchfield yesterday. Having it installed on Monday, along with Natika 720p front and rear cameras. What did you do about the USB connection for the radio?
dang, I got the Natika cameras too! did you get the same for front and back? I havne't installed mine yet.
I ran the supplied USB C cable down the center console and into the old USB housing. I also ran a new aux in cable back to the same place inside the arm rest.
FYI the USB won't take anything larger then 32gig - also, i altered my 'floating mount' to remove the outer edges. it made the bezels WAY to large.

Yes, same camera for front and rear.
Mine is a 2007 so there is no existing USB port. I most likely will go with a cigarette lighter replacement flush mount. I'm leaning towards USB C for the mount instead of USB since I have an iPhone and will mostly be using (wireless) CarPlay.
It's interesting that you're experiencing a 32GB limitation. I just looked through the manual for the radio I bought, WC6600NEX, and it doesn't say anything about a limitation. It does note that some USB devices may not perform optimally, but nothing about a size limitation. I wonder if it has something to do with reusing the existing USB port?
Do you by chance have any photos of your modified mount? I'm having trouble picturing what you're talking about. As I said, I'm having mine installed by a car audio installer but it would be good to be able to pass on to them just in case.
I removed the old USB port and put the cable there instead. Its usb C and i use a usb A conversion for the flash drive. I remove the converter if I ever want to plug my Android phone in. So I'm not using any of the old connections, just the 'box' it was in. I bought a 128gig flash drive, and it was NOT recognized. I have some random ones around my house, with the largest being 8gig and that worked fine. I've gone ahead and ordered a couple 32gig flash drives.
After talking with crutchfield they said this was in the manual:
Compatible Media Files: The Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX supports the following types of audio, video, and photo files recorded onto an inserted USB device.Media Type USB (MSC/MTP)File System FAT 12/16/32
The floating mount is essentially a box the screen fits in. I just cut the sides off with a dremel, leaving just the back. Once you see it, you'll understand. Not sure if your installer will do that or not.
There are two types of cameras. One is a barrel shape (definately use that for the front) and the other is a more traditional shape for back up cameras. Was curious which one, where and how before I get started on installing it.

The information Crutchfield gave you relates to the file system on the USB drives and it isn't accurate for the WC6600. Page 138 to 139 in the manual lists all the USB specs and this unit supports file systems of FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS. I just got off the phone with Pioneer and confirmed there is no size limitation on the USB drive capacity as long as it is formatted in one of those file systems. I would recommend NTFS as the file system of choice. The Pioneer rep told me they recommend Kingston, Lexar or Verbatim USB drives as the most compatible.
I think I understand the modification on the mount.
I wanted to have the option of using the "behind the plate" mount. As for mounting on the front, I have a front license plate and was going to talk to the installer about mounting it behind the plate and drilling a hole in the license plate for the camera.

This burns me up that Crutchfield gave me the wrong information. I just double checked the chat and sure enough, he left that off. Thanks for the info, I'll format NTFS
Yes - you have to use both mounts - one mounts to the other, that mounts to the car. I did mess with it for quite some time to get the display as close to the 'dash' as possible.

Thanks for the info - formatted in NTFS and no problems with the 128gig flash drive. Still trying to figure out all the gizmos. It doesn't look like I can use the higher video of these cameras, let me know if you can.

Glad to hear re-formatting solved your issue. I'm not sure I follow "higher video", though. Are you saying you can't use the 720p output or some other feature of the camera?
If you have time today, could you take a side view picture of your setup from the passenger side as well as one from the top and post it to this thread? It would be greatly appreciated.
yes, the radio doesn't recognize the camera when its at the higher setting - if you figure a way around this, let me know.
the view from the drivers seat - its more or less facing directly at me direct side view - you wouldn't see this unless you had your face on the dash another side shot for you view from the passenger seat - that entire area of the dash is angled away from the passenger top view - stuck a piece of electrical tape to cover up the grey - just threw it on there to see how it would look - I'm going to redo it to make it perfect another top down view

Thank you for the pictures. They are very helpful.
As for the camera, what you wrote made me pull out the instructions for the camera. In reading through them, it appears these cameras will NOT work with Pioneer or any of the other major manufacturers' radios because the AHD video format is not supported. This bit of information was conveniently left off the Amazon product description. While this is what the Natika paperwork says, I can't find anything on the Pioneer radio that identifies the type of video the head unit supports. Neither have I been able to find a good video that shows the setup process for backup/front cameras for this series of Pioneer radios.
I would suggest going through the setup menu for the cameras and see if there is an option for AHD or 30fps cameras. I'd love to know if that option is there in this radio. At any rate, I'll discuss it with my installer and if they don't think these will work correctly, then I'll send them back and go with whatever the installer has. If the radio doesn't support AHD video, then the cameras will need to have TVI video for the full color view according to what I've found so far.
the cameras work, just not at the higher resolution. I tried every setting on the pioneer but couldn't get the higher resolution to work.
a few years ago, I got a new pioneer with a pioneer camera to put in my daily. it works fine but was standard definition. that pioneer camera cost $100 at crutchfiel. still does.
I'm going to keep these two cameras for the time being. together they cost around $70 total. in the future I can upgrade if I want. not a lot of choices for hd cameras at a decent price.
The camera has two settings, it only works in the lower setting. The picture is still fine here's a couple examples. I was just hoping that it would be HD but no big deal.
backup view, I removed the parking lines from the camera setting but I can still use it from the radio
