Yes, a lot people have done it. Current forum practice is to wire them in parrallel with the rear speakers since they aren't putting out any highs now and the tweeters would not draw much from the headunit.

You can also simply replace the 3.5" twiddlers in the doors with a set of 2-ways to increase vocal clarity and high frequency reproduction. The 3.5" are powered by the HU.
