Default Troubleshoot a dead Bose CD unit?

I have a 94 LT-1 with the original Bose unit in it. Radio and tape deck work fine, but the CD player won't "take" the CD when it is inserted part way into the slot. I'm afraid to push it all the way in by hand figuring that if it gets in there and I can't get it out that I'm going to have all sorts of major problems.

Can anyone give me some idea where to start here? Why would the CD player just fail to take the CD in?

If you really want to get it fixed send it to Dr. Don and he will repair it for $150-$200 or so:

The best thing to do is realize what total crap the Delco/Blose system is and rip it out and replace it. It is the CD today....next week/month it will be the stupid amps in the speakers ($140 EACH)...I know because I did the same thing....I replaced my rear amps and 3 days later the CD quit....I was not going to throw good money after bad so I took it and had a decent system installed....even the cheapest aftermarket you could buy today will sound 10X better than the Blose.....

Some people are worried about keeping their Vette all original...so I left all the original wiring in place so someone could repair and reinstall the Blose garbage one day if they wanted to....
