I just received the following email reply from Michael Fuller the President of Top Down Technologies.


Hi,

You are correct on the assumption that the BCM controls the RAP modes. We are working on a new product that will plug into the old radio harness and decode the BCM messages and provide a RAP control line that can be connected to aftermarket stereos. This product is not yet available, but we are doing all we can to have it shipping by Christmas. I can contact you when we get further along.

click "unlock" 3 times to turn on the aftermarket HU while letting the windows down? I have Window Valet and an aftermarket HU... I missed that 3 "unlock" clicks and turns on the Bose HU... hopefully they have a way to fix that problem!! :)

I think this means that the Window Valet will have the ability to have RAP work with after market stereos. This means that after you shut off the car, the stereo will stay on until you open the doors.

That is correct. The valet is programable to allow the RAP to continue evern after the doors have been opened for different time intervals. Using Key Fob 3 times to lock will roll up windows and turn off RAP. 3 unlocks will roll down windows and turn on RAP, 4th time will turn RAP off. These features can be run in different combinations and are called gestures. Things you do with the Key FOB that the valet monitors for. You can also turn on RAP from inside the vette without keys or key fob by entering command mode via 3 rapid DIC resets and then 3 (DIC controls on right side of drivers dash console)

Hey guys i purchased a window valet thid year(2016) and am almost finished installing a doubledinn dnx893s kenwood receiver and when i put down the windows with 3 clicks the HU doesnt turn on like the bose system did... am i doing something wrong or did the vendor sell me a old version of the window valet??

If you have an aftermarket HU installed, you'll need the Accessory Valet wired to your radio power in addition to the Window Valet at the OBDII port.
