Re: Everyone with 3-way component sets step inside... (Metal Wulf)
It's not a component "set" in the sense that the three drivers are all sold together, or even the same brand for that matter. But here's my 3-way system. The mid-bass sounds great running free air from 100 Hz>~500 Hz. I even did a test, removing the HP filter and subwoofers, and the 6.5" Scan Speaks do fine as a straight-out woofer.
Tweeter: 1" Dynaudio D28 (from their home speaker line)
Midrange: 3" Dynaudio MD140 (automotive)
Mid-Bass: 6.5" Scan Speak 18W/8535-00
Re: Everyone with 3-way component sets step inside... (Metal Wulf)
Do you mean a three-way speaker?
If so, these are some cheapies, Pioneer TS-906 6x9's ($59) in the rear with TS A1365 5's ($49) in the front. Powered by a Pioneer DEH-4400(the new one is better DEH-4500MP $179) at 23 watts, and adjusted so the rear is mainly for Base and the front does all the mids and highs, it sounds awesome for such a cheap system. Looking back, I should have just gotten plain 6x9's in the rear since I only use them for bass, but thats hindsight.
The frequency range is stellar, I really like music (although I don't go for extreme Bass) and this thing will play anything I want, including any Brass or wind instrument you can think of, perfectly.

All right, are you attempting to see how may speakers will fit in the Taco?
4 subs, 3 way components. You going to add a center channel and 5.1 surround too?

:jester no 5.1 system... my factory dash speakers are 4" and i'd hate to just waste that spot. so a 6.5" midbass in the door, a 4" in factory location, and tweet somewhere would be best. I'm looking at the JL XR 3-ways, They're on ebay for $330
I need 4 10's to replace the 2 15's that are in it now :D plus I like overkill :reddevil
also it's not a taco, Kale has the taco... mine is just a pickup
my sirius tuner and antenna came in last week, and i'm going to order the HU after the holidays. Can't wait to get the sat-radio up and running.

I had a set of JL XR6.5" 2 ways. Very strong mid bass. The tweet is bright, but overall the set seems to be missing something. Hard to put a finger on it, but its almost like the sound doesn't "fill" the cabin like it should. I'd consider them again if I were to do it over though.
