Hey gang--
I have been looking at different suggestions on this board for a while, and I think I have hammered out a decent system. Below is a description of what I have and/or what I want to do. Opinions are appreciated!
Headunit: Eclipse 8443
Fronts: CDT HD-62ef (already have them)
Rears: None
Subwoofer: Kicker 02S10L52
Amp: Xtant X604
Extras: Kenwood controller and Music KEG
What do you think? I plan on mounting the sub in the storage compartment for a stealth effect. The amp seems a little underpowered for the speakers and sub at 75 watts for each speaker and 300 watts for the sub when bridging the back channels. Will this be enough? The RMS rating on the CDT's is 115 and the RMS rating on the sub is 300. What say you?
All solid equipment. I don't personally like Kicker subs as much as JL or ID, but good stuff.
Xtant makes beautiful amps.
I'd give the CDTs around ~120 watts rms per side though.
You'd give the CDT's 120 watts even though they are only rated to 115? My problem is that I can't find an amp that will accommodate the power needs of the CDT's as well as the needs of the sub. I know I could (and maybe should) go with two amps, but space is always a concern. As for the sub, I have just heard that the Kicker L-series hits pretty hard. Originally, I was going to go with an Elemental sub, but now I am not so sure. I really like the amp, but as noted, it will not deliver the power I would like. Any suggestions? The amp and sub are still up for debate. The headunit and speakers are already a done deal. Thanks a lot.
Hmmmm, well the Xtant amp was running around $400, and the sub was going for $110. I think I could go as high as $200 for the sub and $500-600 for the amp(s). Bottom line, I only want to do this once, so I would rather get higher quality components and pay a little more up front. Originally, I was going to use US Acoustics amps, but then I got to thinking I could do better....
That JBL looks like it might be the best bet for an all-in-one solution. Here is the amp I was originally looking at: http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_...s.jsp?cid=9175
There is not much difference performance or price-wise than the PG that you suggested. Infinity makes a good sub? I have been looking at the JL Audio, and it appears that they recommend the box to be 1.25-1.5 cf, and I think my box will be just under 1.0 cf. I am not sure about the Image Dynamics stuff yet.
