Stock Stereo questions

There are not any RCA connections on any stock C5 HU's. If you have a CD changer you can remove it and use a GM10-Aux to connect your XM. If you don't have the changer you'd also need to get a changer cable, Tuan Lee has them on the same site linked to above. There are instructions that show where the connectors are here
I replaced my stock speakers just to get better highs, and it sounds great compared to the stock paper POS Bose speakers. I went with Clarion's in the front and Rockford Fosgate's in the back, any 4 ohm 3.5" w/RMS of 15-30 will be fine in the front, and 6.5" in the back for coups or 5.25" for FRC, Z06, and verts. There are illustrated instructions on how to take apart the doors here
You CAN change out either the HU or the amps/speakers. There are cable adaptors made that plug in to the back of the radio that do what needs to be done to the signals for you. Search the forum to find the details. I think the popular line level adapter is called 'PD2'.
You can read about my MP3 player installation adventures here. Since I still haven't learned my lesson, I installed a powered 6" Bazooka tube last week (not bolted down yet), and hopefully tomorrow I'll get the 4x25W amp into the car
