O/T *** Slot Cars
I was able to get this slot car collection today. Although this is before my time I think these thing are very cool! I’m sure some of you probably ran across this stuff back in the day.

Brings back good memories. I had the GT40 with the “sidewinder” motor, as well as a set of the Aurora HO scale cars. Still have them somewhere in storage lol.

That is a great find.
*** 1/24th scale and Aurora HO slot cars, were my favorites. I still have a *** Lotus 40, La Cucaracha and Chaparral 2E. The Chaparral was my all time favorite, and it logged many miles at the local slot track in the 60's, winning quite a few Sunday afternoon races. Besides the slot cars, I have a 1/20th scale 65 Corvette coupe made by ***, that's powered by a *** .049 gas engine.
I also have that same Revell 65 Corvette, new in the box. For some reason there seems to be a lot of those 65's floating around, in new and unbuilt condition.
The best of the lot, may be the *** Chaparral 2D. I've seen new, unopened versions of the same Chaparral 2D just like you have, advertised for over $1000. Even used built ones sell for $250.

2021 C1 of the Year Finalist - Modified
I used to race and win with a La Cucaracha , no one could out brake that sucker ! Still have one. What great fun that was. I'd go around the neighborhood and collect pop bottles to get enough money to go to the track.

Pink Floyd drummer/vintage racing enthusiast/collector Nick Mason will tell you that his Ferrari 250 GTO is his fave. Except 20 years ago he told that he purchased that GTO as a bartering tool to get the holy grail of racers, the Jaguar D-Type. He therefore, used the GTO to pick up his daughter from grade school.

Very nice pics - thanks for posting!
This brings back lots of memories from my time as a teenager in the early to mid 60's. Slot car racing was really big in this area back then!
I had several of these - the Chapparal, the Grand Sport, the GT-40, and my favorite, the Cobra Daytona Coupe!
There was a large slot car track withing bicycling distance of where I lived then. They actually held 24 hour races - we had teams of 3 people, worked in shifts, and had pit stops to change tires and brushes in the motors! Also had to alternate controllers as they got too hot!
Unfortunately my parents threw out all that stuff when I went off to college........

I had the Ford GT, Chaparral, but my favorite was the Cobra Daytona. Later I graduated to a Classic Asp and my coolest car the Classic Stinger with the flap that would pop up on deceleration.
