Default New member from Clinton, Tennessee- 1953 corvette pedal car

Hi, my name is Wes and I am from Clinton, TN. I currently own a 1982 corvette with 12,000 miles and original tires that came on the car. It is an automatic. I also have a 1953 corvette pedal car that I have all of the original documentation for. The pedal car has never been ridin or touched the ground. It is is mint condition. I am looking to part ways with my pedal car and am looking for pricing advice.
Thank you!

Hello from Knoxville.....you might check in with the folks from East Tennessee Corvette Club...…..send an email to Wayne at Vettes1st@aol.com...he is one of our club's top experts on pricing and value. Whatever it is, it will be significant if its old, original and mint. Good luck.....and if you have not yet joined, check out the Club (www.etcorvette.club). With 477 members, it is the largest NCCC club out there and now 60 years old!

I suspect that it is not old because there were never any 53 pedal cars designed or made by GM. I think that I know which one he has. Hopefully he will post pictures. he is a new member and might not know where to find his thread now that it has been moved.

Hello and yes the pictures are helpful to identify your pedal car. Your car is the one that I expected to see. First of all the condition is exactly as you described however it is not old. These cars were made in the 2000's but not sure of exactly what year. I have seen them for sale many times on Ebay and at swap meets. I have seen new ones like yours at swap meets for $200 to $300.00. The ones that I have seen on Ebay have had a higher asking price. I just checked Ebay and there are not currently any for sale. I do not want to guess at an exact value but I would give you a range of $300.00 to $1,000.00 depending on the buyer. Once you decide on a price let me know and I will try and help you sell it. I am an Eska pedal car collector like the one shown on the original post that you used on the Corvette Forum. They were designed by GM and licensed to Eska to build 260 of them in 1956. Today their value starts at $10,000.00 and goes up from there depending on condition. Please call me if you would like to discuss over the phone.

Good research GB. If the owner of 53 # 173 could be found maybe they would be interested in purchasing it. I hope that it works out for the seller.

Let me know when you decide on a price and I will contact a friend who restores 53's to see if he might have any leads for you. Also you might contact the manufacturer since you have their contact information. They might be interested or know someone who is.

Best of luck.

Hello Wes,
I was able to confirm two things for you today. 1953 Corvette #173 does exist but I do not know in what location. These cars sold new for $500.00. Not any help as far as today's value but maybe you can try and track down the owner of #173 and see if they are interested. Good luck

Donate it to the National Corvette Museum and write off the value?

There was one listed recently here in Mass on Craigslist. Looked just like yours and probably from around 2008. He was asking $2,500. It sat there for sale for quite a few months and finally the ad was no longer there. I assume it sold, but no way to know how close to his asking price it fetched. Yours is in great shape.

Hello, I’m interested in the peddle car assuming the car is the one photographed on the table and not the used one in the first few photos. Please PM me at bwwade25@gmail.com.
Thanks,
