Re: No longer Top Secret (DiecastCollector)
You beat me by 30 seconds, I was about to post it on the end of the "Whatever happened to..." post. Someone on Scale18.com alluded to a $599 price. Is that in the ballpark?
I hope those pics in the links are preproduction - the hood fit looks like Action workmanship.

1/12th scale????
"and ask about our payment plan"???? Sounds like the price will be right up in the stratosphere.

Diecast collector...don't take it so hard....its not like you made this C5R yourself.....Its only a model. We were just expecting something a bit more classic.
If its a pre-production model so be it....We all hope the fit and finish on the production model will be perfect.
Its true though...the world of diecast does not need another C5R model, how many are out in production now...4,5,6? who knows. a 1972 LT-1 air car-YES! a 63 Z06-YES! a 58 fuelie in Panama yellow-YES! even a 1996 Grandsport ragtop-YES...but another C5R...no.
I hope the company sells a million of them.....but its not what is going to be sitting on my shelf at home.
This post has only been on here for a few hours...give it some time...the positive remarks will be showing up soon.
If I offened you with my callas remark....I didn't mean to. Please hang around and have some fun :yesnod:

Re: No longer Top Secret (DiecastCollector)
The people who like it and can afford it will buy it, the people who don't like it and/or can't afford it won't. It's as simple as that. It looks like a sharp, well detailed C5-R in a bigger scale, but it's out of my price range, and I'm cool with that. I know there are already dozens of C5-R's out there in various scales, but I'd rather have a selection than just one or two. My opinion is that every diecast Corvette that is produced, good or bad, gives us all more to choose from. Most of us, due to display space and/or cost, have to pick and choose what we buy. This new C5-R is one more choice, and it should be thought of that way. No scale replication, whether it's made of diecast metal, styrene plastic, resin, or cheddar cheese, will ever be perfect. While AutoArt, GMP, Exoto, etc., may not have as many flaws as Ertl or Maisto, they still have flaws. The guys who don't like or don't want another C5 or C5-R won't buy this one, but they'll have more $$$ to spend on what they do like.
Remember, no matter how much detail they have, how big they are, or how much they cost, they're still little cars and this is still a hobby. :flag

Well put. Point made. I guess I was just very disappointed that it ended up as the C5-R. Not that I don't like the C5-r's. I own many versions of the car from 1/43 to 1/18. I was just hoping someone would put out a decent C4. :(

Re: No longer Top Secret (DiecastCollector)
DieCastCollector,
THANK YOU for posting this. I was just about to do the same when I saw you
had allready beaten me to it.
Don't leave this forum because of a couple blow hards. Some "Corvette Owners"
can't see past thier own generation's nose to the next. Instead they whine and
cry because no one is producing thier own generation.
A true Corvette Enthusiast will embrace any well produced replica they can
get thier hands on. I am absolutely enthused they choose the C5-R to produce.
What other Corvette has won more races in the past decade? Ohh that's right..
Before the C5-R there wasn't much aside from Privateers... The C5-R brought
Corvette to the winners circle numerous times and is still doing so.
I appreciate the hard work GMP has and will put into getting this museum
replica to market and I will repay thier time and hard work by purchasing one
with no reservations. This will be the premier piece in my collection I am sure
for years to come.
Don't leave the forums, please.... We need all the educated diecast and car
enthusiasts we can get..

Some people are just a little too sensitive when others display thier disappointment with a release. This is America! Everyone's entitled to thier own opinion.

Re: No longer Top Secret (stinger95)
Listen, everyone has the right to like and buy what they want. The work that went into the C5R model over the last 2 years has been unimaginable. With over 500 individually handcrafted parts and even door handles that work, this diecast model is one of the most highly detailed cars ever produced of any car. This is for those that want the best to commemorate the best. It is definitely as high end as it gets in diecast and we know it isn't for everyone. That is why the total production number is estimated to be under 800. Read up on the details here http://www.EpitomeExclusives.com/CorvetteC5R.htm
GMP thinks Corvettes, their racing heritage and Corvette enthusiasts are the best there is in the world ro they wouldn't have taken on the HUGE investment it took to create this masterpiece. Once you hold one of these in your hands, you will know what I'm talking about.

Re: No longer Top Secret (stinger95)
Stinger,
Nice reply...
Yeah your right at least someone of us own one from a "Generation" I happen
to own a 2000 and a 1968.... And before that I owned a 1995 and a 1989 so
please don't lecture me on owning a real corvette. Every Corvette I have
owned has been real, including but not limited to the C5...
I am a real enthusiast of ALL Corvettes, What are you?
And as far as opinions go, I am entitled to mine also.
Epitome,
Thanks for posting.. This car is nothing short of amazing in every sense of
the word!
