^ I'm looking at that white f-150 this weekend.

-'01 f-150 lariat
-78k
-4-door
-V8 (not sure if it's 5.4 yet)
-bed cover
-custom stereo
-tow package
-4x2

Asking $12,500 at the moment.

I was cruising 50 MPH in my 01 Dodge dooley and I got 25.8 on a level road at sea level. That is what the computer showed. When I check it with a pencil it's within 1 MPG. Amazing with it weighting near 9,000 with the gang box and tools inside the extra cab. MPG drops as speed increases but even 60 MPH is 20. Towing car and trailer is 14.9 to Pocono up and down the hills. 01.5 Dodges all have disc brakes on all 4 which is better. 100,000 is nothing on the Cummins. I have 85,000 on mine and it doesn't need any oil added between the 7500 mile oil change.

the '01 had a 4.6 v8 standard...not sure if the 5.4 was an option or not. Let us know how it turns out.

From what I have seen a 1500HD silverado is a good buy around the 2000 model year. Right now the market is going flat on trucks and by early August after the incentive extravaganza thats coming up prices should bottom out between now and then. I know a few people that love towing with the 1500HD becuase its not overkill but its powerful and its has plenty of brakes enough to get the job done. We tow with a 01 1500 silverado with 3.73 gear hauling a heavy open trailer and it works real well. I would shop some public auctions and see what pops up because you will se an influx of used trucks within a month.
