Re: PDA members I just got Hot Lap Timer (ElDiablo)
Hey Adam, I didn't realize you were a PDA member. I joined this year too but have not gone to any events.
You a student or you driving on your own?

Edgar, I'm confused.
Adam is racing... I've read his recent posts. Why would he be a "student" and not driving "on [his] own?"
Does anyone know where the results of the races are posted, placings, finishes, lap times, speeds, etc.?
I haven't been able to find any websites with the info.

I didn't know, that's all.
PDA does instruction as well as timed events. It is not fender to fender racing.
I signed up with PDA but I would be student.

You will like Lime Rock :smash: :smash: I need more work on the down hill off camber. I must feel more confident when I leave there next time.

Student means that you are in Green group and follow the instructor. That is only for the first timers. Next you move to White group, then Blue, then Red and Black where the instructors are. I'm in Blue but will be in Red at the next Poconos event since I know all the turns. For Limerock I think Blue will be best. To date I had only two cars pass me wich was 360 Modena with racing slicks (laping 1 sec quicker) and supped up Z06. The Z06 was pulling on on the strait but in turns I had him. The 360 was faster in turns but even on strait. I have great pic on me passing yellow 355. First I have to develop them :smash:
Here are a couple of pics previously "developed":
Who's racing?
And who's at a driving school?

Oh, Okay, now I get it. So it's not really "racing."
You can't pass someone in the turns period. You can't pass someone on the straight unless the let you pass by waving you by. There's no timing, which means there are no results on who is faster. It really depends on whether someone will let you pass or not. You don't need Nomex (tm) or a roll bar, or even a five point harness.
Even in drag racing at the club level you race against someone you can pass without permission, and you get timed. Hence my confusion.
I apologize, I had thought you were actually racing, as opposed to simply renting some track time with other guys.
Sorry for the confusion. Good luck driving at Lime Rock with the guys.

Re: PDA members I just got Hot Lap Timer (EHS)
PDA is not racing it is racing skill. You are on a track with about 15 to 20 other cars and for the most part are competing against yourself to better your driving skills hence your lap times, but if you think it is not competition you are greatly mistaken. Yes in order to pass you must be pointed by but if you think your not competing when at 140 you have a car 24 inches off your rear who wants to pass you well i think you get the idea.

I'm definately not racing  but I am going as fast as the car will take me without exiting the road surface. It doesn't take long for them to point me by when I'm 2 feet off there bumper and filling the mirror :D I learn something every time I go. You get better each time. Adam I'll take you up on the offer to get the receiver. Thanks it was a ggod time.

Now if only some of our fellow forum members would as well, especially when they keep telling everyone else, over and over, ad nauseam, that they are now "racers." I've seen their driving skills. It's seems to be more rice than race.

EHS, why don't come over to watch? This way if you see me driving at 150+MPH you can tell me that I "just rented the track" You must be the only one that "gets it" with your extensive racing experience   Keep on practicing that turn around your house :troll I’m tired of your negative comments :U

tsk, tsk, tsk.
What in the world makes you think my post above referred to you?
You're waaaay tooo sensitive.
Although, in reviewing your posts, come to think of it, you do have another thread about "racing" with/without active handling and traction control, and you state that you are in your first "season of racing", so I can see why maybe you thought I referred to you.
Oh yes, and in another post you mention you were "racing" a Porsche TT at a track event, so I can see you may be worried about people thinking you are just a "wannabe."
And, just because no one else, except you, refers to PDA as "racing," I can see why you might get that impression.
With regard to my racing experience, I certainly have more than you have, and that includes numbers, required safety gear, corner workers, start/finish lines, and timers (yes Adam, in the late seventies we didn't have a Hot Lap Timer, we had people with stop watches on the straight); and we not only raced against other people, we posted the results, for everyone to see.
As you also know, while I no longer compete in ground sports, I have my fair share of aerobatic competition (which is even more interesting, I think), including at the national level, and I can assure you that actual competition is a lot different from wannabe flying. The same goes for driving, because I've been there. Ask anybody who has.
Consequently, I think you're doing a real disservice to guys like David Farmer, who are "real racers," and I certainly don't see him posting up a storm about his season of "racing."
So, please stop being a poseur, put some numbers on the car, stick on a roll cage, and enter an SCCA event if you want to really "race." Maybe then I'll come watch. Seeing you being waved by a Honda Civic doesn't really interest me.
Finally, I notice above that you've at least now gotten your signature right. Take a bow.
Cheers.
