Default SCCA Run Offs

"The 43rd running of the Runoffs commences with four days of qualifying, October 9-12, then showcases three days of the finest grassroots racing anywhere from October 13-15. Seven days is just barely enough to contain the activities of the 25 classes, a record number of classes for Runoffs competition. Also a possible record in the making is the number of Runoffs starters. With 755 entries, this year’s event is on course to break the record set in 2004 at Mid-Ohio of 709 starters."

I just looked at something on their site and it had Cindy Lux at 1:37 and Scotty at 1:47. She's 13 seconds ahead of the Corvette guys. Something is wrong with this picture. Did she go out when it was dry and the rest of the pack go out in the rain?

that could have been the LAST lap time, not the fastest time.

Live timming tends to record the last lap over the fastest lap times.

I editted above.

I am here helping Chris Ingle. Forget Cindi Lux's time, she went off course, but Scotty's is real and I would not be surprised if he has more in his bag. The C5Z is just not in the same league, Chris is fighting for first in the Corvette class. The Vipers will win going away unless something radical happens. Clearly, the C6Z needs to be let out of the bag and the C5 and C6 (standard) put into a different class. The ghost of Senna could not make a C5Z run with the Vipers and Ferraris (and C6Z). More later guys!

I would not be so quick to jump to those conclusions fellas, while the top C5Z pilots, Ingle, Croyle, Knupp, Heinricy have tested one or two days all season at the Hartland Park Topeka track the Viper Team of NayKid Racing, Ferarri team of Zabinski have been here for at least three seperate three-day tests each not counting race weekends.

I personally watched NayKid go from running 1:53's to 1:48's last week while hitting the alignment platform inbetween every session looking for speed.

While watching the top C5Z pilots I saw transmission changes and a lot of missed sessions.

I bleed bowtie red but these guys have earned their speed and maybe if our guys worked a little harder they would be a little faster.

Theres your problem - Scotty's team was able to rinse/repeat lap after lap and come in for alignment changes while the C5 was coming in for repairs. Thats not bias, thats typical. Cindy Lux (and Scotty) as you all probably know spent alot of time as C5 T1 champions. They swapped over due to to the 30,000+ a year they had to budget for repairs and consumables, and other reasons I'm sure that involve support etc... Cindy mentioned that while they would go through 2 sets of rotors a race weekend, they *STILL* are on the same set this year.

Now, I know they are selling these tanks at year-end, so they may know something we dont....the C6Z maybe the next in line. Who knows, but whatever they switch to, I'm guessing has the best potential (with the bundled engineering and marketing help they receive of course).

Ingle etc.. work plenty hard no doubt, I dont think thats it...

After talking with Kurt from Phoenix on my way home, I think the only way the corvettes will stand a chance is if it rains. The vipers/kumho do not have an effective rain tire.

There is 2.6 seconds between SBW's viper and Lance's C5Z. That is a LOT of time to recover.

Yup, You're spot on. The C5s are pushing so hard, they're breaking them trying to compete... I just don't see the C5 as nearly well built for racing as the Viper. My own experience bore out to many failures just in track day failures...

Keep the updates coming gang! I've got my fingers crossed for the Vette gang to pull through... They've got a week to learn the track...

Mike

I have received a few emails from Chris. He said the Vipers and Ferrari are soo fast and Heinrcy is no slouch of a driver and still 2.8 secs down.

Some ppl think Scott is sand bagging it too.

Well 2nd qaul race is 2:55 PM CST today

That 2.8 second lead is insurmountable for a qualifying lap. That equates to a ~345 feet lead, and short of the Vipers & Ferraris falling off of the edge of the world, how in the world can the Vette's possibly close the gap?

In the race, the traffic might help hold the fast guys back. We can only hope.

I was kind of curious how things were going to go this year not being at Mid-Ohio. I think that Heinrecy had an advantage there because he just knows that track soooooo well. I'm not sure which layout they are using at Topeka but if it's more of a hp track than Mid-Ohio the Vette's don't stand a chance (kind of like at Road America).

Maybe we can throw some of the weight from LG's Speed GT car and the C6R's into the Vipers and see how they like an extra couple of lbs!!!

Last year Heinrecy pulled off a good one, this year he will really have his hands full. I'd never count out our BowTie brothers though. Best of luck guys.
