Extra oil in C6 during HPDE?
I have an 06 C6 A6 Z51. I was in an HPDE event last weekend and my instructor with a 04 Z06 told me I should put in an extra quart of oil in my car because the extra Gs during high speed sharp turns will starve the engine of oil? I did not since I did not have any warnings from the car computer.
Any feedback "for" or "against"?
Thanks.

that has nothing to do with his Z51.
I would run at exactly full, or 1/2 qt extra. You are balancing starvation due to the high rpm emptying the pan combined with sloshing in the corners WITH flooding the top of the engine and pumping into the intake tract.
In my experience, the newer style crankcase venting system works fine slightly overfilled, except when the fitting on the valley cover loses it's bond. Since the engine doesn't vent through the valve covers like the early LS1's, you don't see oil being pumped out in the later engines.
Bottom line, overfill by no more than 1/2 qt IMHO
The LS7 problem is completely unrelated, and even then should only be a problem if the engine is seriously overfilled, which unfortunately is easy to do in the LS7's weird level checking procedure.

I always overfill by one quart. I also have a PCV catch can on the breather - well worth the money. I usually catch 2-4 ounces of oil that would be otherwise sucked into the intake during a 2 day event. If the owners manual recomends adding a quart for your C6 then I would absolutely do it.

I added an Accusump to mine New engine after putting a rod out the old block. This setup holds 3 exter quarts and releases it when the oil pressure drops below 40 psi. It also prelubes at startup.

Yes always run a little extra. If you are pushing hard in the corners, up to a full quart is a great idea.

PS BIR is a killer with it's long turn 1 and 2. Turn three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine and ten can cause issues also.
