Default Leaf spring install tips

(Posted here and C-5 tech for exposure)

I'm going to replace my stock springs tomorrow and will be using the instructions found at LS1Tech. If you have any additional cautions, tips or suggestions please post here.

Thanks,

-RR

Did this and it was easier than easy. Once you unweight, no pressure on springs and no worries.

If you remove the upper a-arms and the lower end of the shock, you can drop the whole thing and it will fit in easily.

Depending on the springs you put back in, sometimes you need to load them in order to get them to "seat" in the cradle properly. Get one side close, then load the other. You may have to bump it to one side to get everything to line up.

Since the OEM springs are curved, the distance between the mounts changes as the spring bends, so patience is warranted..

VBP springs are straight, so they bolt straight in without these issues.

Thanks guys. I'm installing Hyperco springs which are within 10% stiffer than stock (2003 Z06).

Here are the specs:

Front: 571 lbs
Rear: 777 lbs
