Ace Slick Wheels OK for AutoX?
Hello,
I have been autocrossing my C6 Z51 (2007) on stock wheels and tires ... the folks running on R compound tires are just spanking me. My driving is slowly improving and I am to the point of wanting to try out some stickier tires. My budget doesn't currently allow for a $2000+ set of forged wheels.
I want to keep things sized as close to stock as possible, does anyone have experiences with Ace Slick wheels?
Front: 18x9.5 +53
Rear: 19x11 +73
Thinking about Hoosier A6 rubber (maybe R6 if that would be better for a 2 driver car):
Front: 245/40 18
Rear: 295/30 19
May also take this setup out for an occasional track day.
Thanks

big tires are expensive... can you fit at 17" wheel on the front of a C6 w/ the Z-51 caliper?
If so most go for aftermarket Grand Sport wheels. I run 17x11 OEM GS wheels with 315s at all 4 corners.

I am trying to stay within the SS class rules, which is why I picked everything as close to stock sizes as possible. Finding stuff exactly stock sized is becoming a challenge. I don't know if a 17 inch rim would fit over the Z51 brakes, or if it would be allowed in SS. Sometimes the rules get a bit confusing.
The front A6 Hoosiers are the same as stock, but if I am reading the specs right they are most at home on a 9 inch rim (is the stock 8.5 rim too narrow?). The rears are not even available in the exact stock size.
Kind of funny that the Hoosier A6 tires cost less than the Goodyear run-flats I am running on now.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

So it looks like stock sizes are 18x8.5 and 19x10 (which are required to stay in SS). I don't know if Ace Slick come it those sizes, but Factory Reproductions makes several rims in that size.
Hopefully the Hoosier A6 rubber (F: 245/40 18, R: 295/30 19) will be OK on stock rim sizes. I was worried about the width required by the front tire, but maybe I am reading the tire specs wrong (width range versus measured width).
Thanks

why don't you buy a set of painted c6 wheels. They are stock sizes and the hoosiers will fit on them. They are always forsale on the forum for 300-400. Cheapest wheels you will find.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I think I will try and pick up a set of used stock C6 wheels, failing that I will go for a set of reproduction wheels.

Turns out that I couldn't get a set of used wheels in time, so I picked up a set of Factory Reproduction C6Z06 wheels (in stock C6 sizes). Now I like the look of my AutoX wheels bettter than my street wheels, will have to swap that around later.
I wrapped them with Hoosier A6 tires ... what a difference!

Don't try the A-series for track use. Hoosier has different compounds for autcross tires (A6) and road race R-series (R6). A full day at the track will pretty much ruin Hoosier autcross tires.
