Default Bell Helmet Recommendations

I am looking for a new helmet for the NCM VIR event comming up and like the Bell Racer Series helmets since they seem to have a good reputation and is within my price range. However, there are many different helmets in that series to choose from. I definately don't want an open face, but would like opinions on the different ones to choose from as there are no stores around me that sell them to try them on myself. How does the M-4, X-15, Sport 3, and BR-1 compare?

Thanks,
Kyle

Is the interior removable on these so you can wash them? Are there any advantages to having a smaller eye port? I am basically down to three: the Sport 3, BR-1, and M-4. Is it a good idea to get the forced air?

Thanks,
Kyle

Kyle,

I have an almost brand new, used once as its too small for me, Forced Air M2 that I can bring to VIR. It's around $330 new, I'd sell it for $225.
It's white and size L. It's a SA2000.

Wish I had a Large head, I need an X-small. I'll look forward to meeting you there though.

Thanks for the replies guys! Seems these three are pretty similar with the exception of the BR1 and M4 having the SRV shield system and Sport 3 with the 281 shield. Pretty much preference I guess.

Ive tried many helmets in the past and currently. I prefer the M4. Previous helmet was M2. Larger eyeport is a key feature for better visibility and for glasses. I dont agree with most brands sizing. I always get one size larger and its still a nice tight fit.
The X15 looks the best, but has an awful fit and awful visibility. Sport 3 is acceptable, but still far behind the M4.

Have you tried on a BR-1 yet? It looks a little different than the M4, but I believe the only difference is the cost and the venturi ventilation.

Yes. I remember it had glue on vents on the outside. Didnt think much of it as I was set on the M4. If you really need feedback, I will be near my helmet guys store tomorrow. I can try on again and let you know.

I bought a G-Force Pro Force 1 SA2005 helmet from Saferacer.com.
I like it. Price was right for my budget.

That's ok, thanks though, you have been very helpful. I believe i'll just go with the M4 since it is cheaper and I don't see the benefit to the glue-on vents unless the car is open air. Less weight too, lol! Thanks again!

I have a BR-1. Very nice helmet with a nice wide eye opening. Vision is very good. Helmet fits me very nicely...

I also got a blue chrome tinted shield with it and that is very nice too...

The SRV style shields are nice on newer Bell's. They do not have detents for the shield as you open it. It will just open smoothly and stop and stay any where you want it.

I just had mine painted.

Check it out ======> Glenn's Bell BR-1
