Default Video of MCar00's C6Z06 at Sebring Dicing it up with GT3

I was a passenger with Mike MCar00 this past Sunday at Sebring. About halfway through the video a silver GT3 starts playing with us and after a few laps, Mike waved him by. A couple of minutes later, he spun out. Staying in front of someone is a lot harder than riding behind someone. Whenever I get behind a Viper or Porsche that just doesn't want me to pass, he usually spins out. I love that.

The car is a stock motored 2007 Z06 with Stoptechs, Moton coilovers and Michelin Sport Cup tires. Mike's an excellent driver too. I find it a little unsettling when I run in front of him because with his handling he's all over my rear view mirror from side to side because he can run any line he wants throught the turns it seems.

I don't think he has 100 hp less as we didn't catch him on the back stretch at WOT.

That was Mike's buddy Matthew who has the same car without coilovers. They have equal power but it doesn't handle nearly as well.

It depends on which model GT3 it is, I cant tell from the vid but the 996 GT3 is 385 HP and should NOT keep up with a C6Z on any straight and the weight is 3042. The 997 GT3 is 415 hp but weighs 3200+ lbs but still manages to be faster than the 996 GT3 somehow. That driver is very good though. You should still have pulled on the straights.

Those numbers are for the 997 GT3. I believe the car in the video was a 996 GT3...it had exhausts on each side. The 997 GT3 has a single exhaust in the middle.

The 996 GT3 has 385 hp.

I was impressed with that GT3. He came out of nowhere and stuck like glue to the bumper of the Z every time a turn showed up.

I had become acustommed to regularly blowing by 911s. Two weeks ago I lapped with a 997 GT3 at Roebling Road. The man was very,,very fast....... Fast in two areas.....: in the turns..... and fast in the straights. He knew the car and was very fast..Dang!

I rode with MCar00 last month at this track. Aside from being quite adept he is very good at preserving the car. You can see in the video he doesn't beat the car up for example when he gains on people....just a quick short shift to buy the engine some cool off. He destroyed the competition when I was out there and he had a few more seconds as he was very gentle on the brakes. Looks the same here.

Porsche seemed to be outgunning the Z everywhere but in the straights and even there it held its own. Vette was getting killed in braking zones which against a P-car is not that unusual as Porsche's have great brakes that inspire tons of confidence. It also appeared that the vette was a little slow getting into throttle as it cleared the apex of corners. Open that wheel and begin to ease into throttle (with progressively more fury as the wheel gets more and more open) as soon as you hit (or in some instances get close to) the apex. good vid. never been to sebring.

As far as the braking.....Mike MCar00 had more brakes but was going very easy on the car. When I rode with him, he was very fast and very very smooth. If you ever have the chance to get to Sebring you'll see what I'm talking about regarding the braking zones.

Mike is one of the better drivers I have seen. Don't read too much into this video other than guys having fun. He was going easy on the car...period! I can't speak for the 911 driver but I know Mike had more. His lap times here are off by 5-10 seconds depending on what lap you watch. That's an eternity!

The 911 had it easy when following MCar00. Once he lifted and let him by you can see the 911 missed many lines.

Your observations are correct but not because of any driving deficiency by Mike. It takes stones to put the pedal down through Bishop's Bend, and he does it every time! He's a licensed racer and could teach everyone here a few things!

where do you see exhaust???? I thought the GT3 is the camera car in which case you never see the exhaust. If it was in fact a 996 GT3 then he must have really been chillin in the Z

The camera is in Mike's car, the 996 GT3 is silver and appears about 2/3 through the video. The thing that amazed me about Mike, is that he is driving this car with stock seat and seat belt and he makes it look easy. He can definitely shave 4-6 seconds off his lap times without my 200 lbs slowing him down and with perfect lines. I know that because I ran a 2:29 in my car with him behind me, and after he passed me, I couldn't keep up, and I have more hp and tq.

His car is setup really well, he's an excellent driver, and he beats up on his car less than I do. Go figure.

He did lose a motor in his last C6Z a couple of months ago though. That car was scary fast.

I suspect the GT3 had some extra hp over stock. Otherwise we should have eaten him up on the straights.

You assume that the Porsche is stock.

That Silver Z at the start of the Video, was picking up some of his speed on corner exit, but the car simply loooked faster everywhere except braking in my opinion. Thanks for the video. Very nice and damn long. Good stuff.

Was Mike WOT on the longer straights? It doesn't appear that he was.
