Fluid Temp Question
What temperatures are normal on track days for the Coolante, Oil, and Transmission fluids. Also what temperatures are extreme and require me to back off. I have a 2006 C6 with Z-51 and an A6 Transmission.

Back off when Coolant temp goes above 230 and/or oil temp goes above 300 not sure about trans temp as I run a manual.

On my C4 coolant 250° and 300° on the oil. Trans I would worry at 220°.

Synthetic will break down at a higher temp. Here is a chart on temps:

How high you let the temps go is up to each person and their budget.

Melting Slicks
I've run coolant temps at 240+ with no worries.
I think Heinricy said that the engines with good synthetic oil have seen sustained running at 330 with no issues, but 340 causes problems. Personally, I'd back off at 310.
I run a manual tranny and you get a warning at 275 I think. I'm guessing the automatic would be slightly lower.

On my C4 automatic, at about 250 deg. the trans fluid will start escaping out the vent on top and dripping on exhaust, causing smoke, as well as possible fire hazard so I try to keep mine below that point. It is rare for me to get it over 240 deg. and that's with a "two driver car".
Change your fluid and filter often, it's a PITA but worth it.
Low-speed autocrosses have not been a problem, only "track days"
